EV general discussion

What a first-class tool. He's so lucky he didn't kill someone and is a prime example of things that people hold up when they ask the German government to apply a blanket 130kph limit.

I've ordered a swivel mount for the big screen and some metal pedal covers - because race car.

Ordered my new EV, to replace my current lease that goes back end of the year, going for Skoda Enyaq was going to get something smaller but we need the boot space for two large dogs.
They are gorgeous. I saw one in Asda's car park two weeks ago in that stunning deep blue colour. Lovely car and will be definately on my shortlist when it becomes time to replace the Leaf.

I've agreed on £12,800 with MotorMoolah (stupid name). They are collecting the CX5 on Wednesday so we're all good to go for my Friday pickup of the Y.
I'll be sad to see the CX5 go. It's been a truly great car. Faultlessly reliable, comfortable, well equipped, and safe, for 4 years and 40k miles. It's been to Warsaw and back several times and all over western Europe for family holidays. Hopefully we have as much luck with the Tesla as we did with the Mazda.
One odd thing I just realised, both of our cars are American now. I best start referring to the Mustang as a "stick", the indicators as "blinkers", and I best start wearing a MAGA cap.

I hope you joined the "stang gang" ;)

edit and now I have House of the king song by Focus stuck in my head.

Abarth arrived today so had a little play around with it this evening. It's alright all in, funny shape of a thing with a high bonnet line yet compact everywhere else. Quite chuckable albeit scrabbles about under heavy foot. Firm but comfortable enough and the seats are decent.

Special mention for the infotainment system....it's utterly terrible almost comically confusingly laid out and difficult to find the most basic settings. Only car I've ever been in where it's taken many many attempts and time to get Android auto working. All this after telling the real user of the car that modern vehicles are set up so easily to use....whoops

I must say, I've found the whole Tesla experience refreshingly......dull?
Went to Tesla Reading and walked in. Asked about used Model Ys. Was asked in return if I would like to drive any of them. Drove one. Came back. Asked if I liked it and then was told if I wanted to buy one I could either do it on my phone or we can do it on a web browser on his laptop. No pressure. No ********. Showed me their stock. Asked me what colour I liked. Looked at a couple. Decided on one. Ordered it with my phone. Done. Went home.
It was much like buying a new iPhone. I guess that's what they are going for.

Just remember, you've not been hassled about gap insurance but it is probably a good idea to get it.

You've also not been hassled about service packs, ceramic coating, wheel and tyre insurance, and who knows what else you don't really want from the dealer at rip off prices which is a bonus I guess.

Identical experience here, it’s very refreshing. One of the reasons I ended up with one actually!

But... How can Tesla sell cars without slick Rick 'closing' the sale with his extravert charisma and shiny suit?

Other manufacturers please take note :)

While Tesla obviously take it to the extreme I had a pretty similar experience when I bought my ID3.

Reserve online, quick call to confirm details, arrive at appointment time for pick up, check car over, confirm I sorted my tax, drive away. Bring it back within 7 days for a full refund if I didn't like it.

Plenty of the more online focused dealers are going the same sort of way.
