EV general discussion

I'm going to run my Y for a while and if the wife complains about the lack of a binnacle, buttons, controller, etc. then I'll buy some of the S3XY stuff.
Pickup for my Y is Friday I have just found out.

One spanner in the works is that WBAC dropped the buy price of our CX5 from £13,400 last week on Wednesday to £10,800 when I did it again today. That's without me changing anything at all and before the inevitable knock-down when I visit them. Not happy. I'll see what Tesla come back with as a valuation for the trade in later in the week but in the mean time I'll stick it up on Motorway and see where I get with that.

I would try CarWow and Motorway as well.

Do people really miss the screen in front of you in Teslas?
Nope.

Only little gripe was putting the screen blower on (misted up a bit after the initial clearing), which is a swipe up and then pressing a quite small icon.

Long press the icons in the bottom, you can change them.

A couple are dynamic based on last used app but others are fixed. I recommend front and rear demist, heated wheel, heated seats and energy graph.

And the light bar.
definitely get the lightbar

Tesla won't give you a higher offer. When i got my 3, the guy said there's no point asking Tesla to value my 440i
In the end i sold it to motormoolah (they offered higher than BMW/WBAC/Motorway/Carwow)

Thanks. I'll give them a try along with Motorway and CarWoW.

[edit]That one reckons £12.8k. Motorway and CarWoW both reckon £13.2k so similar. Those guys seem to just buy the car like WBAC though which is a plus for me. Motorway and CarWoW dealers bid and then come and kick tyres.

Ordered my new EV, to replace my current lease that goes back end of the year, going for Skoda Enyaq was going to get something smaller but we need the boot space for two large dogs.

I wonder what the speed rating on his tyres was...

Assuming the performance configuration should be 21 inches wheels on Y rated tyres - though that doesn't mean it was on factory spec. But even V rated should hold up at those kind of speeds unless you are really doing a lot of miles at speed.

I had the same happen at thankfully lower speed, fortunately with much less severe consequences as well. There was no catching it, it was like having the handbrake yanked. I managed to hold it straight for longer than this guy, but after a few seconds the car just wants to switch ends. Saved by the barrier.

how do modern DSC & lane following systems respond if you did have a tire blow-out, do they realise or think there is a loss of traction
and use the torque vectoring say , it has to be an interesting corner case for the test suite.

I guess the accident investigation will tell us his tires were correct and good condition.
