*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

Hey all. We've currently got SkyQ with 2 boxes and pay £89.50 for this:-

Sky Signature
Sky Sports HD
Sky Sports Complete including Sky Sports+
Sky Cinema
Sky HD
Ultra HD
Multiscreen

This deal is expiring on the 24th Oct, and their 'offer' for renewal is £112.50. I also pay for Netflix Premium and Disney+ separately which we currently watch through Firesticks.

I'm thinking of jumping to Sky Stream and bundling Netflix and Disney with it so we watch it all through one source. I'm very keen to keep and get UHD/Atmos for everything as I've got a cinema setup. Don't think I'll miss SkyQ from moving to Stream, as long as the pic/audio quality is still high compared to Q/Firesticks (900MB net connection too so that'll be fine). I'm thinking this will save some money by bundling it all together and paying the extra topups to Sky for the Premium versions of Netflix/Disney, as long as I can carry on using my current Netflix/Disney logins (use them staying away with work few days/week through a firestick+TV). Any flaws with the plan, and best way to get a deal and best price for Stream?

Having a quick look as a new customer it comes to £83 (Ultimate/Sports/Cinema/Netflix Premium/Whole Home-2 pucks/UHD&Atmos), so just Disney Premium to add on which I believe can be done once signed up? But then as soon as I log in with our account, switching over becomes £109/mo and doesnt include Netflix but forces ad skipping to be included, so not a good deal and no surprise there! Am I going to have to cancel and come back as a new customer (currently in my partners name and her account so can switch to mine) in order to get that £83 new customer offer?

Cheers for any advice.

You will need to tell them you're cancelling to get through to the retentions team in order to get any decent offer.

You can do it all through the web chat thing, takes hours but at least you can do something else while they're faffing about.

I think paying £89.50 for that, Sky are taking you for mug. Even with Sky stream they are taking you for mug.
Everything you have listed there can be streamed using Now Tv at a lower cost.

SkyQ Now Tv

Sky Signature Entertainment & HBO Max £9.99
Sky Sports HD All Sky Sports £34.99
Sky Sports Complete including Sky Sports+ Not needed
Sky Cinema Sky Cinema £9.99
Sky HD Not needed
Ultra HD Ultra Boost £9.00
Multiscreen Not Needed

£89.50 £63.97

The Now Tv prices i have listed are the most expensive because they are no contract cancel anytime. If you take out contracts for each that cost drops quite a lot and is worth doing. Ultra Boost gets 4K HDR with Atmos and add free viewing, along with the ability to run 3 streams at the same time.

With regards to getting my mother off Sky and onto Virgin, things took a turn when Sky retentions told me that I'd have to pay a cancellation fee of £536 as I had forgotten that my constant previous negotiations on contract renewals with these muppets resets the contract and so my mothers contract ends in 2028. Virgin were perfectly fine when I phone to tell them and they said they can cover fee's upto £250 tops. I told them I will switch to them in a few years time for my mother.

Retentions then offered me Sky Signature + Asian TV stuff for £32.50 and an upgrade to my mums pathetic 'Superfast' barely 40mb broadband that still runs off a copper phoneline to full fibre 500 for £26.00 so all in all £58.50 a month. I am sure they will dramatically raise prices in a few months time as is the norm. FYI the previous bills are still unexplained as they are £97.50 when they should be £73 or something.

She has since received some phone conversion kits in the post, which I'll look at tomorrow. At the same time it looks like they'll activate her broadband in early December which is quite a wait.

My main issue at the moment is that the retentions guy repeatedly phones me - he's from Africa so I sometimes get calls at 9pm just so he can update me on how things are going. Everytime this guy calls, I am stuck with him for like 20mins+ so I've been ignoring his calls today. I mean wtf else have you got to say mate? I've got all I require.

I had a good result when ringing up for my dad today. He was paying £103.50 for the following:

Sky Q
Sky Signature
Sky Sports + HD
Sky Cinema
HD Package

For another £20 on top, he's now also getting:

500Mbps fibre
Anytime calls package
TNT Sports + HD

This means that he no longer has to pay BT £75 per month for those 3 things.
