Quick Diablo 2 and LOD Question

Hey peeps just bought this pack \:D/

Just wondering as LOD is an upgrade and I want to play Diablo II from scratch...what do I load up..Diablo or LOD???

Or can I just load up LOD to still play through original Diablo 2?

99% Sure you load up LoD and play through the original campaign, just with all the expansion stuff and classes as well.
 
When you install LOD, it replaces the normal D2 .exe's and replaces then with LOD so you can only play D2+LOD, not D2 on its own.

If your starting from scratch, you play through the original D2 with all the expansion stuff as mentioned above and then move onto LOD.

D2 has 4 Acts, 1-4. LOD adds Act 5.
 
Make sure you have LoD installed from the beginning so that you benefit from the 800x600 resolution and increased stash size.
 
Thanks for the information guys :) yep it makes a hell a lot of difference at 800 x 600!!!

Also is it possible for me and a freind to do the campaign together? I just dont understand how you would save the campaign and get back to it on another day etc? :confused:
 
You can do it over Battle.net by just creating a server with a password, but that means your characters will be online only and not used for offline play.

However, you can do a TCP/IP game, whereby you setup a game, give your friend your IP and then he can join in. Whenever you both leave the game will be saved with all your items and quest progession, but of course you would start back at whatever camp you started in and not where you were when you went "save and quit". Then you can continue on your own, offline if you want and play the game, then he can come back whenever he wants.

Basically,

Battle.net = Online characters playable online only

TCP/IP = Singleplayer characters playable online with your friends or whoever you give your IP too, and also playable offline.

the trade off is that you can't play online on battle.net with this mod enabled
 
^fantastic...ok I guess I cant play on battlenet...but will I get banned if using this? (even if for single player or coop?)
 
Just tried it and this works a charm. Menu screens remain in the old 800x600 resolution but otherwise it's great. Thank you for the heads up.
 
Can't get the mod to work.

I have extracted the files to the D2 directory, and run the multi res .exe but cant find the option to change resolutions?

Everything you've written sounds fine. The menu's remain unchanged, you need to change the resolution in game by pressing ESC, then Resolution (apologies if you've already tried this).

Are you patched to v1.12a?

Aaaaarrgh! Still no joy.

Running win xp pro sp3. Installed d2 to f:diablo2
Extracted mod files and ran the mod .exe and ran the game.
Still no resolution option. Game also updated to latest version :(

Looks like a no go for me
 
^ Odd, the fact you have no Resolution option, makes me think LOD isn't installed correctly, but that can't be right. The Resolution should only show up when running LOD.

EDIT - Just running LOD you need to press ESC > Options > Video Options > Resolution

I assume so, becuase the Resolution option isn't there otherwise. And your experience seems to suggest this.

Least you know what the problem is now.
