The RX Vega 64 Owners Thread

I'll ask again as it got lost :P

Trying to run crossfire vega 64, struggling to get it to work right.

Mostly play BF4 / Battlefront 2 on a 240hz monitor.

any advice on how to get it to run smoothly. Going from a 1080ti the video experience is far behind what I'm used to.

The video quality itself seems to lack and the smoothness of the frames seems a bit clunky? is that a way to describe it?

inb4 its the PSU. It's fine :p

Its is we have the same card then maybe the driver difference or th fact that I dont have my custom watmann profile updated ?
I haven't updated anything. I thought that was the case and looked at Power Saver, Balanced, Turbo and Custom with +50% power limit. On all settings it states 240W.
Why not upgrade your card to 18.8.1 and see yourself? Unfortunately cannot roll to 18.7.1 because I will loose the tree trunks on World of Tanks :(

Just did and still showing 210 not sure why (maybe my 650 Watt psu that wont let it draw more ? ).
On the other hand I followed your advice and managed to get the card running at p6: 1652 and p7:1682 (higher was crashing :( )
And firestrike looks good just broke the 26000 score :D : https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/28165292?

I believe this is around 240W-250W yes? That is impressive mate. Truly need to find the time to run some Firestrike benchmarks on my latest tweaked settings.

The one bellow is 25283 graphic score, with brute force overclocking back in July, when I was exploring the maximum capabilities of the card and was burning 376W.

That shows how fun Vega 64 is to tweak, and personally feels more like overclocking back in the late 90s and early 2000s.
Tweaking everything to get the best combination of settings from the hardware we had.

Also have a look here. Graphic score 25144 my old watercooled GTX1080 at 2164core (somehow 2190 couldn't work on Firestrike, but it did on gaming and other benchmarks).

Food for thought......

Yes at least that is the consumption that gpu-z was giving me if the readings are correct not sure why we don't have the same power limit value but hey the results are here.

Thanks again for the help. I haven't had so much fun tinkering in 10 years

No back to power saving and iChill as ff12 really doesnt need such power to run :D

@Raptorpg "reviewers" :rolleyes:

"ugh runs hot and 370W+ power hungry"

https://www.kitguru.net/components/...nitro-limited-edition-better-than-gtx1080/13/

Benchmarks beaten at 2/3 the power consumption by spending 30 minutes..... :D

Yeah just not sure about the power consumption because I dont have a wall plug measurer (so I can't be sure) but the perf are here and the card runs cold. But on the other hand the nitro is a monster :D

I will post more settings later this week for 1700s at the lowest possible power to give them a try.

And I know what you mean. I play right now WOT as Power Saving settings. 176W is enough :D

Both the bios are from Sapphire vega 64 reference, same as powercolor.

I have noticed in GPU Z it states "Board Power Limit 220 W" Curious as to what others are seeing here. Maybe only seeing spikes to 250w but on average it's probably around 220w right enough. Maybe I should run a bench for a while and looking at the proper average over time.

Same card as you mine is 200w,
Gpu-z is only taking the reading of the current draw at the gpu core side, and reporting it over the i2c bus for software to read off,
It doesn't include the power consumption of the hbm and the power regulation on the pcb which is around 35-40w. . That's why if you want to see real power consumption scaling then you need to measure at the wall, not by software.

Was playing borderlands 2 last night, capped fps to 144, card was using only 145w when the card was hitting 1582mhz clock, temps was at 34c haha. Its such a power hungry card right :p
