The RX Vega 56 Owners Thread

Some brief reading showed a better balance with performance and power draw in overclocking the HBM rather than the core I think.

I have had rotten luck with OC'ing any of my recent graphics cards (980Ti, R9 290) so fully expect having a dud with my V56 :p.

not a guide as such but i found this when i got mine and found it interesting to see what other peoples set ups were and what was stable for them and what wasn't

Interesting to see the msi waterblock difference, 370w and then 240w undervoltage (130w difference).
900mv helps with that.
I run msi air boost at 920mv and dropped the mhz a bit on p6 and p7.
Seems to support that I really need to put my card under water :)
how to resist

New card just arrived at the office. Looking forward to getting it installed this evening.

I watched an undervolting guide that said the best way to get stable clocks is to initially set both P6 and P7 to the desired P6 clock, do some tests, then when that setting is definitely stable move onto the P7 value. However, I've also read that setting P6 and P7 to the same clock value can cause weird behaviour like underclocked HBM. Does this bug still exist?

I know exactly what you mean my previous 280x was exactly the same.

Welcome and on TROH.:)

To get on the Roll of Honour all you have to do is post a pic with your user name on it of your Vega 56.

Has anyone got any scores from Heaven benchmark 4.0 on stock settings and overclocked, I would like to see the difference a few tweaks make if you have.

Just did a few benches, with tessellation and without, and with ultra and high quality.Test was done with pc in the sig. Heaven was all ways showing that cards speed is 1590mhz, 800mhz ramm. Haven't tried to OC the card yet. Will do some reading, and will try to do something. During testing card was quite silent. Haven't checked temps.

Arghhh got back from work to find my new Vega 56 card & just realised my 700 watt OCZ Modx Stream-Pro PSU only has 1x6 & 1x8 power leads...do I just need a new lead? It has 2 8 way outputs from the PSU..
Please help..was gaging to get this going

I think you'd struggle to find a compatible cable, unless you still have the box and/or any original spares. PSU cables generally aren't cross-compatible, even if the connectors on the end are the same. That's also a pretty ancient PSU at this point... surely the better part of a decade, unless you bought it as new old stock? OCZ went out of business a long time ago. Might be time for an upgrade there as well.

Thanks Aretak, Oh double crap...the Vega manual which looks like it could have come from a kids toy:) seems to suggest it can take all kinds , anyone know if a 6 & 8 will work?

It is a bit old but works , I’m not sure of the spec just that it’s 700 watt..
