Do you run an AdBlocker?

I use Pi-Hole for network level blocking, and Stands for Chrome. Between the two, I rarely see adverts.
Pi-Hole in particular has been a revelation. The speed at which web pages load has halved, and I also don't see ad's for things that my wife has searched for.
I wouldn't mind ads on web pages if they were discreet, but they're not. Certain websites without ad-blocker are completely unusable.

Has anyone successfully been able to block youtube channel via network/software.
My daughter loves watching American Adults with stupid childish voices playing with tat and we want to limit her time on them, shes 7. She's pretty good normally but I find she often finds her way on to them on her tablet. I'd like to be able to block the channels we don't like with the ability to enable them as required.
Rather her watch the wildlife/snake/spider pet videos she likes watching than people playing with toys when she could be playing with them.

You need to also add the Nano Defender (aka uBlock Protector) extension, which is free and open source. Just follow the simple instructions on its home page to add the resource URL and small filter lists to your uBlock Origin extension. It hides the blocker to all sites and those pesky 'We see you're running an ad blocker' overlays go away. You can even verify it works by visiting BrowserLeaks' Content Blocker test.
AdGuard Pro should do this. If you're rooted you have a lot of other options too.
Yes, you can run Pi-Hole in a VM on Linux. You can also run the new AdGuard equivalent called AdGuard Home, which is pretty nice tbh. It runs on Linux and has a really nice dashboard/UI that offers all the usual customisation options, filter lists etc.
Have you used the custom shield option to re-enable scripts, first party fingerprinting, cookies etc? If you disable those there's no reason Brave would behave any differently to Chromium (because that's all it really is).

It's a fresh, untouched installation of Brave. As soon as I disable the shield for mixcloud.com the site loads as it should.

https://blokada.org/index.html will block ads on android phones. It blocks ads on all apps etc but YouTube ones still seem to get through, you can change to custom filter lists so might be able to add one that blocks the YouTube ones.
I used to run Pi-Hole on a Linux VM if that’s what you mean. No problems at all. I moved it to a Pi-Hole docker though as this allowed automatic upgrades.

Yup, uBlock Origin, as has probably been said already, an adblocker is a must these days, as the amount of ads now, is utterly ridiculous.
Set your shields in the main settings to block everything, like so:
Then on a site-by-site basis, click the little orange lion/Brave icon on the right side of your address bar to unblock the minimum required to get things on that site working.
Generally (99% of the time) that's just to enable scripts again. Occasionally, you'll need to enable first party fingerprinting (don't enable third party/all fingerprinting!), or third party cookies (eg for cross-site authentication). It'll take you an afternoon, but then as with NoScript you'll have a customised database of all the sites you usually visit, and they'll 'just work'. Any malicious third parties will automatically be hampered because they can't execute JS, or access your browser to fingerprint it or store cookies etc.
See my earlier post for details of how to stop this happening. TL;DR - Nano Defender with the correct resource URL and three little ND filters installed.
Edit: HERE is a screenie from my visit to EG just now. No popups, no overlays, no 'disable your adblocker' crap. Just how it should be.
I don't care about cookies because I have a browser plugin that deletes all cookies that haven't been used for 30 seconds and all cookies are deleted when I close the browser (which I do quite often) or whenever I decide to delete them all. Also my other security measures ensure that relatively few cookies are created anyway.
Data gathering companies have deliberately degraded the web and are inherently hostile to users, so they can't possibly be surprised when people take basic steps to at least partially defend themselves.
