Yup, seems that its denied. Pity. That would have been an astonishing back pair.
but also looking at it the opposite way - do Liverpool need to spend £60-70m on a centre half, is it likely they will get vfm…..probably unlikely.

Already have a pretty decent team, no need to spend that kind of money in that area surely

Only 2 injuries away from Lovren......but yeah other areas could use strengthening, for squad depth at least.

True...its a hell of a luxury signing though, at his age, whoever gets him in the end has potentially picked up a world class defender for the next 10+ years.

The best reporter from the Liverpool Echo says Klopp isn't in for De Ligt and never has been. Full back cover and a creative midfielder are Klopp's priority.

Not too fussed about full back cover but a creative midfielder is a must imo.
We need cover for Robertson. Gomez can fill in for AA on the right but with Moreno leaving we need cover. Milner is OK but won't be around for ever and I'd prefer a proper left back to rest Robertson.

Midfield wise Lallana will likely leave, possibly even back to Southampton which leaves is relatively short of creative types. When teams sit back we still find it difficult to break them down.

Not sure Lallana needs replacing...he's barely played for two years and Ox is back.

Ryan Sessegnon would be my shout for a left back and id be looking at Werner and Brandt.

Brandt is staying in Germany apparently. Would Sessegnon come to play second fiddle?

good problem to have I guess :)

Indeed - 10 - 15 years if he / the club are lucky with injuries, and while it helps now it looks like his reading of the game is excellent already so its not like he will have to rely on speed when he gets older

So frustrating though, no matter how well our teams do, and show our league is the strongest, players still choose Real and Barca. What the hell do we have to do to change this.
And most players that have been there don't speak well of the place. Internal politics are rife with cliques and groups. Real seems to he split between Spanish players and foreigners. Most who go to Barca say its nothing special

Let's see, playing in a nice European country with decent weather Vs playing in Manchester.....

Also let's face it, most people dislike the English because of our little Englander arrogant mentality. Doubt Brexit helps much either, cementing our bigoted outlook.

Only consistent success at the highest level and bags of money will change it.

There’s no need to drag brexit into this, or our ‘little Englander’ arrogant mentality, as you put it. It has nothing to do with it.
