Yep Trump is going postal, he's really got it in for China and pretty much no evidence of spying/hacking in huawei devices that's been made public anyway.
When you stand back and look at what's happening, Trump actually has a point. Good on him to be honest.
I really don't understand this.
Any sensitive information sent should be encrypted anyway, so in the theoretical event of evesdropping on the data, damage should be very limited. Plus I'm pretty sure every country in the world to some degree, spys on every other country.
I don't see this issue between the U.S. and China going anywhere good.
As much as it's having a negative spin on the rest of the world, i can't help but think a bit of a storm like this might actually be good.
China has unfortunately had it good for far too long now. If they paid their workforce a decent wage, and had high standards wrt safety and quality etc then businesses wouldn't be rushing to China as it'll be just as costly to manufacture there.
Trumps point is that China exports something like 500bn to the US, whereas the other way round it's something meagre like 50-100bn. That means a lot of things Americans are buying aren't even made in America. The only way to force companies to stop cheap manufacturing in China is by imposing huge tariffs on these goods. And frankly there is very little China can do about it. They can impose their own tariffs, but these in no-way would add up to soften the blow.
With Huawei being thrown into the mix as well, with countrywide bans on literally anything to do with Huawei now, will have significant impact to the value of their company. I was reading about ARM suspending all ties, which is fine for Huawei's current generation of smartphones, but for any future generation they don't have any chips to use.
Yep, I agree. Even if things like iPhones are more expensive if they make them in America......it's only more expensive if they maintain current profit margins. I'm picking on apple here, but we all know the kinds of bonuses these top level execs get.
America, the bastion of Capitalism getting upset because communist China tries to play the Capitalism game by undercutting rivals in order to take market share
oh it's a dog eat dog world for sure
It's ironic because for decades they've been fighting against the bogeyman of Communism and now when these Communist nations start to embrace Capitalism and we finally think the cold war might be at an end, the gloves come off
