It has to be as good as Ampere for my to buy.

:D and cheaper and faster and cuter and.. I dont see why, the reviewers have mostly pointed out the uplift from turing to ampere has been meh, certainly not the 'leap' that some were anticipating.

It has to be as good as Ampere for my money.

Some sites have claimed (I can't remember the vids, I'll look) that Ampere RT is only 20% or so faster in real terms than Turing. AMD are hardly far behind if they equal Turin or go 10% faster than Turing.

Hype train full gas now.

At least the rumors are settling now, the positive 'fanboys' on this thread (yes thats me too) always knew if it cannot challenge the 3080 its time to go home. With the open goal for AMD to score in due to uncharacteristically poor decisions from nvidia (low price, red lined, hot, massive, rushed launch) it would seem that AMD spies they had did spook them.

Good for ALL gamers! If you dont buy an AMD this gen, at least thank them that your cheap(er) nvidia cards are going to be delivered sometime soon..

Ed - I have only watched half of the MLID video but a lot of this info is what we were riding on the train with (GDDR6, infinity cache, high clocks, low power consumption).

Looking good, hope they dont fudge it now like Jensens promises, and god please let there be stock!
If AMD can equal 3080 performance at a lower pricepoint then they have already scored a big victory. No-one in their right mind should have expected it to be faster across the board.

Nvidia Killer cards
:D

RT is the same ballpark with turing and ampere.
Nvidia fail.

There is a huge increase in RT from Turning to Ampere. A 3080 has 30-50% more performance than a 2080Ti, a gap that will only get bigger as the hardware is better used.

Very strange. The reviews of RT performance that I have seen have been huge when comparing a 2080Ti with a 3080.

Will if MLID is close to right it looks pretty promising for AMD. I'd buy at those proposed prices and performance. I'm looking at this being the equivalent of first gen Ryzen. Getting more competitive, good uplift from the previous generation but just the beginning.

Looks like competition is returning to GPUs finally.

NO THERE IS NOT.
You have to check the facts not your Jensen cool aid drinks.
Your placebo magical thinking right there a common thing when people make up (things that dogs do outside) without even knowing you did.

December launch...joke .

By December we might see some 3080 stock and know what sort of price it settles at (closer to MSRP or are the +£100-200 markups here to stay?). If Navi has the stock too then we can see an apples v apples comparison on price/performance.

November would've been better but Dec is ok if they have a good card at a good price which you can actually buy and receive in short order.

a $600 3080 competitor with 16GB vram sounds like a good deal tbh particularly for those with less interest in RTX features, just a shame it couldn't have come a bit earlier but good for those that can wait this out and nice to see AMD back in the game

Indeed, as I won't be in the market until Q3 next year prices may be even more reasonable :)

you’re the one making things up. Like your previous post about the guy buying a 3090 to play path of exile and turn on RTX.

Poe doesnt even have raytracing. I mean where do you even come up with these things?

Well you arent looking at the information hard enough. Yes its better, but may get better with 'fine wine' :D, until then this is harsh but true:

true RT games ( pathtraced ) like quake 2 rtx and minecraft RTX show way bigger differences. So the reality is that in raytracing only games differences are that big if not even bigger.

in hybrid rt + raster yes, it’s lower.

Aren't the guys saying that RT is no better actually saying in relation to raster performance? ie if you could overclock the nuts off a 2080ti so that it performed the same in raster as a 3080, the RT performance wouldn't actually be far behind?
