The Radeon RX 6900/6950 XT Owners Thread.

Yeh I defo upload a picture when the system arrives. I need to ask does everyone use display port or hdmi these days? I’ve brought Gigabyte M27Q to use. Been out of this game awhile seems things have changed over the years.

I use DisplayPort as I always believed it was better. But I believe if your monitor supports HDMI 2.1, then that is now better than DisplayPort.
 
I use HDMI for my 3440x1440@100Hz ultrawide because the DP port is broken.

I use DP for my 3x 1440p @165Hz monitors on my simrig

I don't think it matters so long as the cable you're using supports the mode you want to run, but I tend to lean towards DP because it used to be required to hit high refresh rates on my 1440p monitors.

The other card in the back is my old Sapphire Vega 64 :)

I think for a lot of monitors you have to use DP to hit the advertised resolution / refresh rate specs. E.g. on my LG I can only do 120Hz over HDMI, and need to use DP to hit the full 144Hz.

Thanks for the replies and info, display port it is then M27Q arrived today now just to wait afew days for the system.

The one they built last week had the Sapphire OC so I’m thinking that’s what it’ll be.

Don't suppose anyone has a spare red devil waterblock? I ordered one on the 2nd of January and it keeps getting delayed, now its April 20th...

I've ordered a new DP cable to see if that might help, but not sure what else to try.

Monitor power off after a certain period of time?

Try using a blank screensaver in Windows instead.
 
Yeah, I have the monitor set to turn off in the Windows Power settings (I think 10 mins).

It's never been a problem on my previous two cards (Vega 64 and R9 380), so weird that it is behaving this way now.

Good idea on the blank screensaver, but I don't think it's a good solve, as I don't want the monitor to be wasting power for most of the day :(

I use the blank screensaver for my OLED TV, i find it a better option that the monitor power off.

Strange bug. Is it feasible to try using HDMI on your display to see if it happens there?
