DLSS 2.0: why aren’t more people raving about it?

You mean that random reddit user who posted a figure/source which didn't actually show where the numbers came from???? Given sony and microsoft are both pushing ray tracing on their consoles and games are developers are going back to add ray tracing to games, I think it is safe to say people do want ray tracing. Sony, microsoft, developers etc. will know a lot better than some random guy from the internet.
I've got no idea what Reddit guy you are talking about. This was posted by someone on the OcuK forum, I've linked the thread in my post above but i guess you did not look at it.

I did look at that thread and as said it is pointless thread because you don't need to pay extra for ray tracing these days, it is apart of the gpu for both nvidia and amd and consoles now, you don't get a choice to have a gpu/console without ray tracing support.

And the reddit thread/link I was talking about was the one where a stat came out of thin air saying something like 90% of geforce rtx owners turn off ray tracing. Probably in another dlss/rtx is doomed thread...

That wasn't the thread question though.

edit: Side note, all the people who are raving and hyping RT remind me of all the Tesla Fanboys. They seem to think that if you are not with them, then your automatically against them. While ignoring any nuance in the conversation.

This is the modern world everyone is looking for their consumer choices to be validated.

And Lycra wearing bicycle riders, if you aren't one of them you're the enemy

Looks way overly sharpened - personally like to see the results from quality mode rather than performance even if performance mode on darker games does do quite a good job quality wise.

The clock is just ****** motion artefact hell and loads of sample ringing.

To be fair some of the outdoor scenes stand up fairly well, given it is performance mode, aside from some parts with sharpening artefacts.

The anti aliasing on the native image looks very soft, I couldn't belive it was actually 4k, what I assume is TAA is way too heavy handed - so it's probably a case that DLSS only looks too sharp because the TAA is really blurry

its still unnatturally sharpend, the exact reason why i dislike FSR in certain games. i hate the oversharpened look, be it DLSS or FSR

it seems like nvidia will start pushing "moar and moar sharpening" agenda to get ahead of FSR even more, since I saw lots of people that found the oversharpened image on certain FSR games fine

my only hope is that they give a dlss sharpening toggle instead. i would hate forced abused dlss sharpening tbh

Native can use TAA which blurs or "softens" the image. The clock shows the same issue as in Control. With the clock in the directors room. DLSS performance is not the best quality mode. Its the worst. The developer of the game sets the sharpening level of DLSS.

Exactly this!

Ever since people have been harping on about fsr looking sharper and clearer, nvidia have unfortunately dialled up their sharpening within dlss as when I tried the new dlss .dll for cyberpunk, first thing I thought was "this looks clearer and less soft... hmm, those edges look over sharpened.....", extremely noticeable for me as I am particularly sensitive to aliasing, jaggies, over done sharpening etc. it's why dlss is/was soooo good as it is without a doubt the best form of "AA"

You just have to look at what most people set the amd image sharpening toggle to and the sweetfx/redux profiles that a lot of people use :o

Nvidia doesn't need extra sharpening to easily beat FSR and this game was given dlss before FSR even launched
