I have the STECS std mk1, and came from the CH Pro too… definitely a worthwhile upgrade.
The mini joystick has a zero deadzone, and the throttle action is smooth combined with no erratic outputs.
I’ve not regretted spending the cash.

Sounds good, I will have to wait for the MK2 now as they updated the thumb mem stick I think.

yeah, I believe that the thumbstick was mover to be under the forefinger.
I'm happy with Mk1 as that thumbstick is in the smae place as the CH Pro's was.

The CH Pro is a linear throttle though (it moves back and forth in a straight line), where as VKB is radial. Thus, the "UP" position on the thumbstick is always pointing straight up on the CH Pro, but dynamically changes on VKB- by around 40deg, or whatever the range of motion is (no such issues with the forefinger stick). One can get used to anything of course, but just a heads up. ALso, VKB is lacking the "Harrier nozzle lever" - a side lever/axis that is available on the TM Warthog, Winwing and Virpil throttles. Shouldn't matter too much if you don't plan to fly the Harrier, but just a bit of a forewarning :)

Yes indeed, the rotation could be an issue for some with the Mk1, but I find my wrist rotates enough with the throttle grip that I don’t really have any real issue with that. I guess if it was meant to be precise then that could be an issue.

I use the thumb wheel for the Harrier Nozzles, works well, and indeed found it h eebest solution out there as it’s accessed in true HOTAS fashion.

The only real downside I’ve found out the STECs is the switch topography on the base. When in VR it’s not easy to navigate which buttons my fingers are touching without feeling around a bit first. Some more topological features to help this would have been nice.

The choices out there are great for us sim pilots, with each manufacturer appealing to slightly different needs.

Just watched a couple of ED vids, and also noticed that the welcome screen on the DCS launcher that very little of the imagery is from the cockpit.

I find it interesting that even ED seem to recognise that combat aircraft are more emotive from outside the aircraft, yet the game is 99% inside the aircraft.

A very good point! Which is why I spend at least 30% of my DCS time in replays. (And also why I never bought the F-14 as its replays do not work.)

not quite true... I had the old microsoft sidewinder FFB stick in the 90's... never had another FFB stick since :D

The new kit does look good, but other than for helo's I'm not sure I'd appreciate it.

Got a moza ab9, pulling a high g turn in an F4 phantom feels awesome. You can feel the load on the wings until you push it too far and you start to get buffeting then you can back of a little for the perfect AOA.
Or in the spitfire lose too much speed and the stock goes loose, the faster you go the stiffer the stick becomes .
Having a dead stick for helicopters is a game changer makes hovering so easy well compared to a springed stick.

Those features sound pretty cool... the only one that makes me "want" is the dead stick for helos.
But in reality, I think it'll take a step change to DCS to make me start spending again.

I would love a ffb stick and a 6dof motion platform and a ...............
Wouldn't we all, would absolutely love to have a full on system and everything to go with it, I might even get around to it in a few years when I managed to get a job lol, my spare room is just about the perfect size for a departed reality system :D

I know its not DCS, but its my favorite WW2 Sim, IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Moscow will be free during Victory day!
Its a great WW2 flight sim and you can play all the other maps online even if you don't own them.

VR player here. Does any one use PointCTRL Miles seems to be away a lot on his discord channel, and with a rebuild of my PC coming I will need to get this working.

Had a bit of a splurge with the sale picked up battle of Normandy deluxe, battle of Moscow deluxe, battle of botenplatter deluxe and battle of kurban deluxe. Went for the deluxe because you get the collector planes and a load of compaines. Should be good for a while now.
I was looking at the dcs ww2 content but il2 is much better at doing ww2.
