Forza Motorsport (10/10/23)

Uninstalled this months ago and haven't been back since.

Uninspired and downgraded graphics that look worse than FH5, and run poorly.

Rubbish handling IMO of the cars.

Rubbish penalty system, really disappointed with this game and wish I hadn't pre-ordered.

Not surprised Microsoft is sacking Devs left, right and centre.

Seems to be rumours from some Turn 10 employees that Turn 10 has been effectively closed and merged to Forza Horizon support. If true it's a shame but this version doesn't seem to be very popular, it's, along with Civ, one of the longest running franchise games I have played and if so, like civ, quite a let down overall but don't want it to be abandoned.
Seen this on a few sites too. Not surprised really. Double whammy of Horizon series being really popular compared to the Motorsport series and the current/last version of Motorsport being quite bad.

If true I don't mind the forizon horizon series, I enjoyed them they are just different, maybe we could get Gran Turismo on the Xbox or pc :D

Would be massively sad and the end of an era

Yeah the latest one isn't franchises crowning moment but it is still a pretty great game and the updates have made big improvements.

With them current focusing on the anniversary etc. in-game, maybe it's also a goodbye :(

Tbh they e only got themselves to blame for bringing out a subpar game. They have us the built from the ground up bull, but still used a lot of modelling from previous gens, they screwed the feel of the game, it was just so bland, the car upgrade path was awful, just couldn't get into it. Ive found asseto Corsa evo more fun and that's only half a game at present with some markedly dodgy inconsistent handling.

What i can't seem to workout is whether it's due to upper management/bean counters meddling , or whether the Devs just screwed it up.

So I've got addicted to SIM racing sub reddits, and fancied having a go, but I didnt fancy spending on I racing or asseto Corsa, I've got asseto Corsa evo but the game is awful with no online play, poor inconsistent car handling (when playing controller at least) and poor graphics, it's very much a work in progress game, so as I have game pass I've downloaded Forza Motorsport again.

They have made quite the number of improvements which has made things so much better, the graphics has improved aswell as the performance, the solo gameplay still sucks to a degree, the ai has improved a lot, but it's a grind playing it, still don't like how rigid it is in terms of progress and the odd monetary system and xp points, just over complicates things and adds not very much..

However the online play is very good, just a shame you can't even adjust tyre pressures if you rent a car for a series of you don't have it.

Microsoft/Turn 10 announcing that this game is essentially dead in their yearly review, with no updates/bug fixes coming in the future.
How anyone could trust these guys again after this disaster, is beyond me.

Such a shame that Microsoft are incapable of managing anything well, as the whole reason I was bitter about this was the massive amount of wasted potential. The demand is there for a game like this, but it needs to be made by a competent team.

It started off bad, with the delayed release and never really recovered. I'd normally pre-order Forza but I held off for this one and ended up glad I did so. I did buy it eventually but in a sale and even that price was probably too much for the game. I ended up very annoyed with the game and did a rage-uninstall when I had to do a 9 lap race at Suzuka in some old 60s car. The game said 4 pit stops. In 9 laps! I tried to make it 3 by staying out for 3 laps in the lead but ended up spending a lap sliding around and having to work hard to keep everyone behind me. Pitted, expecting some cars to follow me in, but no other car did; they sped off like their tyres were fine. That was it for me. Removed the game and never looked back. :(

Hope the FH6 for December 26 justifies Microsoft's decision to focus on the Horizon series instead of the Motorsport series.

I'm managing my expectations. FH6 will have issues and take 12 months to fix but has a wider fan base than Motorsport and PS5 players to boost numbers so should do OK.

I bought FH5 on release but then got so annoyed with the Dev's priorities and increased playlist grind I quit after 3 seasons and didn't pick it up again for >3 years though I have played a lot in the last 6 months and have now collected 90% of the on DLC cars.
I still have a BNIB FH5 controller somewhere I never got around to opening.

Forza is a series that has gotten worse with every version. Years ago it felt great to play. I go back to this every now and again to give it another chance and it just feels sterile and rubbish to play.

Horizon is getting worse with each version too, there's absolutely zero sense of progression in 5. I get that I'm probably in a minority but I don't even particularly enjoy travelling to each race. The races feel good but lack of progression kills the desire I have for it.

I'll be there for 6 but I just hope they make it more fun to play.

I found the young people festival vibe particularly obnoxious in the last horizon game. That alongside the seven thousand high end prize cars you get just for breathing, made it easy to just say no.
It’d be nice if they had a talented team, to focus on fixing motorsport, because they could definitely fix it. Sales must have been god awful though, and the constantly negative-mixed reviews definitely will not have helped. I thought this motorsport game was meant to be a platform they could build on for years. Typical Microsoft product failing to manage that.

they probably blaming the audience internally claiming theres no market for these types of games anymore.

When its theres no market for expensive minimum effort games pretending to be AAA

Racing games one of the types of games AI could actually be good at designing so theres still hope someone will get it right in the future.

I pin all my hopes on Automobilista 2’s career mode, but by the time that ever sees the light of day, our sun will probably have burned itself out and civilization will be long gone.

I still feel hard done by with FM's release. Entirely my own fault mind... I've installed it numerous times since release to see if it played/felt any better but its just not. Handling/controls dont feel intuitive at all even on gamepad. You are forced to slide the car it feels so foreign and strips away my enjoyment for the game. I've got enough grunt in my system to power through its poor performance but even still it feels bad.
Its not a purchase I'll forget in a long time and simply abandoning it and not fixing its fundamental issues is reprehensible. Embarrising for such a high profile studio but its a trend in recent years. I will not be touching FH6. I wont give any more of my hard earned cash to this studio.

With the money Microsoft waste on absolute garbage that doesn’t sell, it’s baffling that they repeatedly treat one of their past key system sellers like this.
The Xbox and Xbox 360 Forza Motorsport titles were some of my favourite console racers of all time. Since then, it seems like they’ve just not been interested at all. Can’t say I was impressed with Sony and GT Sport, but after 8 bazillion updates, it sounds like GT7 is a lot better now. I just would never buy a PS5 for it…

At least one of the teams is still trying. When will one of the PC studios pick up the slack?

Truly gutting situation tbh. Play a lot of it still and it will be the end of an era when it finally gets killed off as a franchisw, was what got me to buy both an original Xbox and 360 console as it was the king of console racers.FM4 is still one of the best racers ever made

Currently going through FM7 and loving it too, on the last few races of the whole career. Felt I needed to get it done

Fm7 is great. It's then only reason I ever buy the new xbox. Microsoft suck now anyhow so I'll gladly stop giving them any more money.
