Whacked new router in and now getting 750+Mbps with my door closed, if I had door closed before it would be about 400 max and up to 600ish with it open (which isn't ideal).
Will be interesting to see what this does for the quality if I don't touch anything to make it a fair test.

Sounds good, just got to dial in those settings pal

Observations
with Alpha SC 4.5 I found 64Gb of memory has made a big difference, was maxing out with 32 previously but 64 seems smoother & more stable.
Quest 3 is a great all round headset for SC coupled virtual desktop recommend a HOTAS or HOSAS setup for both ease of play and immersion.

Questions
Is there a big difference between a 5080 vs 5090? with SC - contemplating the upgrade, i.e. likely to make a noticeable difference in VR?

With Vulkan in 4.5 given it utilises CPU for the exchange, is SC now best with a Ryzen 9 9950X3D due to its core count or is the Ryzen 7 9800X3D Still currently the king of the road given the extra L3 cache?

Thanks

Agree on the RAM, I've seen usage close to 40gb after I upgraded.

I believe the 5090 will make a large difference in VR but not so much in desktop but I've not had a 5080 to compare, you'll find most VR enthusiasts take the top option though.

Boys, invest in voice attack and a voice pack especially for VR in star citizen. It makes not being able to see your keyboard much less of a problem

Problem with that is my microphone is on my headset which I can't wear if I've got my VR on. Which means I just have to have it on my desk somewhere and hope it picks up when I speak lol. Edit: forgot I can set microphone to the vr headset itself...

Had a couple of hours earlier, seems better with new WiFi but not like night and day. I ran an overlay to watch my FPS and it does dip quite a bit, I hope they introduce a way for us to set graphic settings for VR separate. Overall on very high it runs fine, did drop to 40s when flying low around Microtech with all the buildings around etc.

I was going to suggest the headset mic, I use a desk mic and headphones with my Quest 3 but it feels a little claustrophobic. I want to get some decent wired iem's I can still run through my schiit gunnr.

What streaming codec are you using? Have you maxed out the bandwidth etc? It's not a perfect implementation yet, but dog fighting is hella fun in vr

The one you told me Av1x or something. Set to godlike with all bitrate slides maxxed out.

Watched a video and realised I got something wrong, I disabled space warp on VD, but this is not the ASW that I saw should be disabled (think that's an option on Meta Link), when I enabled that it really improved my FPS (I have it set to 90) but it introduces some visual weirdness and tbh I'm not sure the tradeoff is worth it
. The video also mentioned lowering resolution in game for VR, but I wasn't sure that was directly correlated as in Elite the res refers to the mirrored image on screen, there is a separate HMD option for the headset. Gonna try lower it from 4k to 1440p but boost a load of the settings up to max from high. Also disabled auto bitrate as apparently that is not good

Also realised I don't have true Wifi6 as the hub doesn't do 6e 6ghz channel which VD likes. I don't think I'm going to bother getting as separate router tbh as not convinced there is much to gain for the cost involved.

Thought I was going mad but realised there are mistakes on the binding chart for Buzzkiler's 4.4 alphas, two of the hats are mislabeled and there are a few other anomalies.

I got this free (squadron 42) with a graphics card years ago but no idea on what platform or how to actually access it when its eventually released :D

I have the amd one as well with the mustang omega, the actual ship isnt that uaeful except for racing (which am not sure if its been implemented yet?) But its one of the rarest ships in the game. What are they worth now?

At the moment though i mainly do onyx runs to find gear pieces

Nice and concise new player guide if anyone is curious (multi small parts), I got a lot out of it because I've spent more time watching videos than actually playing.
It's more how to do stuff rather than one of those many annoying "how to get the best start in game x" type things.

I sold the game package for £390, which was a few years ago.

I cannot for the life of me get this game to run. I've played it before (recently reinstalled) so I can't tell what the issue is.

At first I was getting audio and menu sounds, but a black screen. This was fixed by changing the settings to force DX11 rather than Vulkan. I was able to load in, create a character, but I found that the servers were down for maintenance (a few days ago). When I came back to play it, the game just launches the splash screen and then crashes with this error:

I've reinstalled several times on different drives, reinstalled the RSI Launcher, tried changing back to Vulkan. Rolled back Nvidia drivers, tried with HDR on and off, deleted my user data file and the shaders, reinstalled the anti cheat, changed pagefile settings so Windows manages this. I don't know what else to do, nothing works :(

That's a strange one, wee look around and it seems fairly generic as well. Only other thing that comes to mind is if you have software running that's interacting with the gfx card. MSI Afterburner / RivaTuner etc.
