BARGAIN - OcUK 24" with DVI (*VA Panel) for £179.99+VAT (This Week Only Deal!!)

Ok just quickly hooked it up over VGA before I unwrap all the cables in case there was any problems with it. This is out of the box without any settings changed. Here is a rear shot so you can see the connectors on the back panel:

I'll get some better pics soon and try my Xbox 360 on it. As far as I can tell it doesn't support 1:1 pixel mapping, I output a 1080p signal to it and it did an auto-resize and there doesn't apprear to be any options in the OSD.

So far I'l like WOW, million times better than my dodgy 17" nobrand one and the amount of screenspace is impressive, not having ever used a computer with anything bigger than a 19" before I'm really impressed with this.

OK, I have just set mine up. Running it at 1920x1200 on a Macbook.

Considering the Macbook GPU isn't great, the display still looks very nice. I'm not as technical as you guys when it comes to monitors.

No dead, lazy or sticky pixels.

I have reduced my brightness and contrast as out of the box it is seriously bright.

Does anyone know if the stand can be tilted? Attached to the stand it is slightly pointing downwards for my liking so if it can't be tilted then I will need to raise it somehow.

I don't have an HDCP capable input device available so I can't confirm it it supports it. VGA and DVI inputs on the back and comes with both cables.

For the money I am very happy.

Good luck with yours guys...

Ok first impressions are very positive about this screen! The build quality seems very good indeed with a nice shiny but not overly shiny finish and a much better looking design than I had imaged. However the blue LED on the front is kinda bright and a little more distracting than you'd want ( easily fixed with some black tape?). The stand does it's job it's not the most stable but it's not bad all the same, although a better design would have been nice but I guess the round blob shape is cheaper to make. I can confirm this monitor comes with VGA,DVI cables and even a line to line cable for the speakers.

I'm running the monitor with DVI and after a straight swap with my 20" dell monitor I fired it up. I'm using a mac pro with 10.5 leopard and on first use the monitor colour profile was detected as an "M24W" but as with most custom profiles it was a little washed out. So I switched to Adobe RGB as I was using before because it's best for me when working with RAW files and I was impressed to see colours that looked almost the same as my Dell. I tweaked the colour and contrast on the screen put only 2% down to 50% for both and I'm happy with the colours I'm getting although the contrast isn't quite perfect from some angles.

I made two plain 1920*1200 images in PS one pure black one pure white and fullscreened them and no dead pixels I an spot :D

The Other difference is an extra box in options that says TV Output with 2 boxes one saying best for Video thats greyed out and the other overscan that was ticked. Maybe it's because of the resolution or maybe it's the type of DVI signal it's sending. If I untick overscan even at native res the image is put smaller in the centre. Not sure what it's for perhaps 1080p TV's. I must say it's a far cry than the hassle I had trying to set the colours for the samsung 206BW I got once for duel screening but was just so overly blue it was useless. I got that from somewhere else and it went back due to fault.

I looked at some of my photo's and the colours seem about right although slightly less saturated than before I believe ( not enough to really care though).

The OSD is simple to use, very straight forward and there's an option to switch between DVI and VGA thats quite easily accessible.

Response rate and video playback appears solid with a very even backlight and no bleeding as far as I can see. I was going to moan about the viewing angle but to be honest it's actually damn good and you can be side on to it and see it fine no problem. it's just when I'm slightly lower in my chair the contrast is slightly better than if I'm up higher, normal I guess for most LCD's, though again the difference is very small.

Overall I'm hugely impressed with this monitor the quality is amazing, the fact that it comes with a DVI cable, the lack of dead pixels, the top quality panel and decent build quality with attractive design. What more could you want :D ( maybe the USB Hub I had on my dell if I had to want something else :( )

Altogether I give this monitor a 9.5/10 simply because of the quality + the price it's hard to say no to. The .5 is lost for overly bright LED and the slight feel that you know it's a bit cheaper built than most. Pictures to follow in second post

Here are the pics soz there 800x600 but 640x480 just looks tiny on this screen now ;)
Any sharpness lacking is because of the higher compression used on these for web use, I can assure you the screen is as sharp as you'd want :D

gamesfreak what is it like playing games on and at what res does it scale nicely?

Afraid I can't test games, I don't really have any on my mac I tend to use my 360 for that. after starting a few more apps I think I made need to adjust the colours slightly.. but it's ok for now.

Just got mine :D

Here's a couple of videos:

Viewing Angles

Menu Options

My initial thoughts are that it is worth every penny! It has fantastic viewing angles, nice sharp crisp screen with no dead pixels.
The Monitor is currently on default settings and it looks good, will be even better when I tweek them later. :)

My only niggle and gripe is that I probably will need sunglasses with that bright blue led! I wonder it there is a way to turn it off or dim it.

edit: Added movie clip.
