He was already on Kimi's gearbox before entering the disputed corner. He got a better line into Turn 1, outbraked Kimi, and got better traction out. Kimi broke his front wing on Turn 1 by getting hot headed.

No advantage gained apart from at birth :p

I wouldve been jumping at this before the decision...
but now the decision has been announced... it seems to be more about getting an advantage from the tow because of cutting the chicane... rather than completely lifting off...
Which is a shame :|

He was punished for cutting the chicane though

Seems like the FIA are trying there hardest to make sure that F1 splinters in a few years time. It can be the Ferrari Internationale de l'Automobile then, and im sure they'll be happy then. I thought that lewis let him re over-take as he was behind his rear wheels at least as they crossed the line.

McLaren also saying LH crossed the start line 6 km/hr slower than KR. Further proof that he gained no advantage from the disputed corner.

All of LH's advantage was gained when he overtook Kimi at Turn 1. KR barely defended at all. LH got the racing line, outbraked and got better traction. Standard overtaking move.

Oh dear Lord....

That is a joke. And not the funny kind, either. That is the least funny joke since Star Trek: Nemesis. I honestly cannot believe they've come to that decision. Were they watching the same race I was???

If we're honest here, Kimi is the one who should be getting a penalty. He practically barged his team mate off the road early on when passing him. He forced Hamilton off the road in that disputed maneuver. He then drove into Hamilton at the exit of La Source after he'd been overtaken.

I'm pretty much done with this 'sport' now, guys. If you want me, I'll be watching NASCAR. At least when they engage in arbitrary decision making that makes **** all sense they admit it.

In the face of scientific evidence (it's a shame it has had to come to that) I don't see how the FIA can reject an appeal.

It's not McLaren's or Hamilton's fault that in this physical universe the rules allow slipstreaming to occur.

Youll be back next week watching Monza like the rest of us...

Thats what theyre saying, by getting the slipstream he got the advantage.
Im guessing it doesnt matter what the guys speed was to a certain degree, what matters is his acceleration because of the slipstream.

But as previously stated there is no rule governing how far you let the car get infront again after letting him through.

FIA have dug a big hole for themselves and will be trying to save face somehow.
