30.3 eh....

30.3
a) During practice and the race, drivers may use only the track and must at all times observe the provisions of the Code relating to driving behaviour on circuits.

b) Other than by driving on the track, Competitors are not permitted to attempt to alter the grip of any part of the track surface.

So. Raikkonen going around the entire corner in tarmac runoff area is ok then??

What a farce, although I can't see McLaren winning the appeal unfortunately.

If I was Ron, I'd be half tempted to pack up my toys and go home.

Utterly ridiculous decision. I really hope that appeal comes through. I'm only sad that yet another race result will be decided in the courts not on the track.

I really don't see how he gained any advantage?

He went into the first apex of the chicane ahead, got pushed off the track by a driver who had earlier tried the same to his team-mate (on a straight) and then Lewis rightly conceded his position.

What advantage had he gained from being 3/4 car lengths ahead to more than 1 full car length behind and how many corners should he wait before he's allowed to compete for position again?

I dont even think I need to say what I feel about this decision, other than to say it is an absolute ******* disgrace.
Simply cannot believe it.

It makes no difference...we saw him back off - he still gained an advantage by being a few inches off kimi's gearbox - he gained an advantage. END OF.

He tried a cocky pass, it didtn work and as a result ended up a few inches off Kimi's gearbox whereby he used the slipstream advantage to then overtake- that is simply wrong and as a result he paid for it.

As mentioned earlier in the thread, he conceded position, all he was required to do. The rules don't state he needs to back off beyond Kimi's slipstream or anything.

he gained an advantage by slowing down?
Surely Kimi would have had the momentum to make it to the next corner, unless Lewis out-braked him.

He yielded as he was required to do, you saw it, telemetry would seem to prove it.

And again I say KR did not even finish the race!!!!!!!!

McLaren say they've got telemetry proof that he backed off :D This is going to be good.

I wouldve been jumping at this before the decision...
but now the decision has been announced... it seems to be more about getting an advantage from the tow because of cutting the chicane... rather than completely lifting off...
Which is a shame :|

Christ what is so difficult to understand...he should have been nowhere near Kimi AFTER he ballsed up an opportunist overtake. The fact he was and then used the advantage you gain by being so close to another driver (slipstream!), to overtake Kimi, is plain enough to warrant an investigation. The result is a drive throuigh penalty and 25secs is a good alternative.
