Hahah, indeed. Really I just want to get a nice protective layer on it. I only managed to do the bonnet with a few coats of something decent before it rained :(

this is about as clean as my car will be until the nice weather starts next year :)

it doesnt do your paint any good to let that ammount of crap accumulate on your car.

Especially at this time of year with its high salt conent. Even if you dont go out and polish the car and spend half an hour doing it, it should at least get a good blast of the jetwash every other weekend to stop it from accumulating.

Well today I got to find out why most people hate cleaning cars. I normally clean my car once a week in the winter irrespective of how dirty it is, and it doesnt get that filthy driving around town anyway, so washing the car is an enjoyable thing to do.

I've not had a chance to wash it for two weeks and in the middle of that 2 week period was a day when I did 400 miles in appalling weather along A roads, B roads and Motorways. As a result it was absolutely filthy - so filthy that I couldn't open doors/boot/etc without needing to wash my hands afterwards.

So today I set about giving it a proper clean. My god. Awful. Got filthy mucky dirt everywhere, had to wash it twice because by the time I'd finished washing it the mucky dirty water had dried on again, it was just a complete chore. No wonder you people who do thousands of miles a week absolutely can't be arsed to wash your cars.

Took a few pics but obviously being silver it probably still looks clean to most of you but beleive me, it was awful :p

See I have a problem when cleaning my car. I'll start by hosing it just to soften the dirt. Then onto the 2 bucket method. I'll do the right hand side of the car/roof first, then hose it off. Followed by the front, left and back. By the time I've done the back, most of the car is already drying which means when I come to using my MF towel there are water marks all over the car. What's the best way to break the work up so that I don't have areas drying while I'm cleaning others?

Know what you mean Fox, when I got back from 3500miles round europe it took about 3 cleans to get my car back to normal. Was horrible.

My current method (Which I admit isn't the best for when your car looks like you've driven it through a field) is to let it dry with water marks and then wipe them off using an MF and Megs quick detailer spray.

You could alternatively just wash all panels as normal in whatever order then rinse off in one go or do as you are and rinse as you go and once all washed and rinsed have a quick final rinse so dried panels are wet so you can MF dry it properly without leaving watermarks.

In hot weather it doesn’t matter what way you do it though because the sunny side will dry almost right away leaving watermarks, I keep a damp MF towel for this side to lightly run along the most dry areas, removes watermarks and panel is all good to go.

yup QD is great stuff, or just keep spraying the car to keep it wet, although that is a bit of a waste of water.

been off work this week so finally found the time to do some machining. I should've really taken it outside for the pictures, but couldn't be bothered.

Reflections aren't too great yet, only 1 layer of sealant on after the machining...should be good to go after another 3 or so layers

Fox you're such a Jessy :D

My Honda often gets almost that dirty between washes, and a hose down followed by a thorough wash and it's fine :p You might get a bit wet/dirty in the process, so what ;)

I have started using a foam lance to foam the car down and rinse it off first as the amount of dirt it picks up in this weather is annoying. This takes 90% of the dirt off I then re-foam it and wash the car with a washmit.

If I am being lazy a foam and rinse down can leave the car looking pretty clean. Although a new snow foam Autosmart Dura Foam is suppose to be able to clean the car fully without stripping the LSP the photos on Detailing World certainly make it look impressive might give it a trial. That does look good Dave. I've been thinking about investing in a power washer for cleaning the car as the hose is weak.

Call me a pessimist but I think they'll be a lot of disappointed people out there.
I just can't believe that this Dura Foam will enable you to be able to clean a car without a sponge or mitt.
Hopefully I'll be proved wrong but I await the sample reviews to come in.

What can i use to clean the floor carpet in the back of my lude?? Someone decided to spill choco milkshake and not tell me, upon moving some stuff around a few days later there appears to be a nice amount of fuzzy scum behind the passenger seat.....
