I keep hearing talk of washing the arches and putting dressings on etc. On my car its got a fiber material running around the arch, is this not the same for most cars then? I cant see anyway of putting any protection there as it would just be protecting the fiber board stuff .

EDIT: Just had a look in my Haynes manual and apparently its a wheel arch liner, think I'll take these off at the weekend and wash behind them and spray some waxoyl in there.

Ok, this thread has been a great help... just got a few areas I want to ask about:

Cloth seats: APC cleaner to sort the marks on these out?
Exhaust tip - what do people recommend to do this with?
Rubber/plastic external trim (around doors etc) - Same stuff all you BMW guys have been using on your plastic engines? (I kiiiiid I kiiiid :D)

Autosol for exhaust tips will get them shiny in no time. you can also use it on household objects of silver colour so it serves multiple uses! yes on the rest :p

Cloth seats: APC should do the trick, providing they aren't too stubborn
Exhaust tip - Autosol followed by a fine polish, such as Meguiars NXT metal polysh or Blackfires, if they are really bad...if not too bad just the fine polish will do the job
Rubber/plastic external trim: Aerospace 303 protectant

Managed to get another coat of Collinite 467s on today ready for winter.

Mine looks so deep and shiny too :D

I'm really impressed with it, with 2 coats on it looks great. This time i buffed it off a few seconds after applying it and it came up a treat. Last time i did it i did a full panel and left it on for a few mins.

Not the best photo to show the reflection i just took a quick snap on auto.

It's great at night at Petrol station when filling up, it just bounces off all those big flood lights and people look while driving through :p

What cleaning products do I need to make my 8 year old Focus shiny again?
It's green. Has alloy wheels. It's lacking the "out of showroom" shine and the interior could do with a good clean.

I have at my disposal:
Bucket
Warm Water
Cloth

Any suggestions? Thanks! :)

Here's a pic for the sake of it:

Edit: I've also got sticky residue on the windscreen and dash. How do I get rid of that? :(

Well it depends if you don't mind spending a few quid on her? To do mine i used some decent car shampoo, super resin polish and some wax.

The wax i used it collinite 476s which is really tough stuff and is said to last up to 12 months. Worth getting and a tin will last you a lifetime.

Not sure on the sticky residue, maybe Autoglym intensive tar remover?
