Aye that makes no sense, the official release date is the 1st as far as i know. Even if it isn't i just went into a highstreet store (and walked away with Arkam Asylum for 99p wewt!) and there were three people walking out with slim PS3s
 
Just picked one of these up. Tbh its louder than my 80gb and for some reason when i insert a disc it just clicks then ejects it. ??

Its going back for a refund, think i,m happy with my 80gb until it gives up. Must try and stop impulse buying for no reason..

It use to happen every now and then with some games if it was a bug or some kind of error the PS3 couldnt sort out. I wouldnt worry about it unless it happens consistantly

wtf? Have you given them any money? Just buy it somewhere else if not
 
Picked mine up this morning and ive ran into a problem changing the hardrive over,this is the screen i get,any ideas:

Get a USB stick with the 3.00 software on, and try again.

It tells you in the picture you've posted :confused:
 
You have to download firmware 3.0 from the website, copy it to a USB key or drive - specifically in a file/folder hierarchy of PS3\UPDATE\PS3UPDAT.PUP

Then shove the key into your PS3 USB port and hold START+SELECT together.

Unfortunately, firmware 3.0 doesn't appear to be on the web yet. You are buggered.

Have you even booted with the original hard drive or have you done a straight-swap?
 
Well, as the status screen is specifically asking for 3.00 or higher, I doubt it will work with 2.80. It will just say you need 3.00 or higher.
 
Hmm Im on the supplied HD and upgraded to FW3.00 - do I have to wait til it's on the web before I can replace the HD with my original one?

Just doing the FIFA acid test to see how good this new system is - been dead silent so far from 1m away...

Just got it and had a quick fiddle, it's great! :D

What I immediately noticed is how ridiculously quiter is it compared to my Xbox 360, I could barely hear it - just a faint "whirrrrr" which is bliss after having been so used to the hoover (360). I must say I prefer the Xbox 360's "OS", it just better laid out and everything, but I LOVE how many options there are to fiddle with the Playstation - there's a million of them!

When it says "Press X" I keep pressing square :o

More fiddling later when I have time!
