• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

Oh Dear, more ATI 58xx mysteries!!

I just posted this another thread but that screen you are getting elpedro is the same I kept getting when I overclocked my 5870 to 900mhz core on default voltage.

You could try upping the GPU core voltage but shouldn't really have to get a stock card stable.

Whats the point in flashing them then, if you already have the bios on that your going to flash it with, pointless re-flashing, thats just like installing the 9.12's, then installing them again just for the hell of it

:D
did anyone say about flashing a sapphire with a xfx or gigabyte or a normal asus , msi bios's?? no!!

the asus/msi 5850 unlocked bios as afew changes like clock limits are higher and fan speed, also it seems to be more stable

Considering OcUK alone have sold 100's of 5800 series there's actually very few people actually having problems, which is about the same with any hardware really. That's not even counting the 100's of cards that competitors must have sold as well.

I wouldn't say the've sold hundreds, as only the other day Fatboy said they only had 47 pre-orders, now thats pathetic for a card thats been out over a month lol, so no ones buying them if they only got a paltry 47 orders, and considering how many of those are faulty, then id say there is a prob, as its every other day somones posting about a faulty 5850, and these guys havn't sold 50 of em yet, and they been out since 22nd Sept. :D

Well of course, overclockers is the only computer hardware store in the UK! :D

well they had a batch of over 300 units from Sapphire and sold them within a matter of days

maybe currupted something with Win7 and recognising the card.

impossible, as using 2 win7 home and win7 rc is the same even after format - nothing.

have you tried right clicking the catalyst driver package in windows 7 and install as administrator

no, but ive never had to run it as administrator before, not even when testing the powercolor 5850, it installed perfectly.

Hurry up and RMA it. Seriously, you could have got the process mostly sorted out had you not spent so much time whining about how bad quality 5800s are.

I've had a dodgy 3870X2 that broke within 2-3 months of purchase, I didn't moan about it, I convinced the shop I bought it from to give me a refund which I then used to be 2 4850s a short while later.

I may be missing something here but if it works ok in Vista then surely it can't be a hardware problem.

i now see it does indeed come with .net framework but as you can see from this snippet not all features are turned on, it may be worth a try to turn these on and run the catalyst drivers as administrator

and theres a beta version out for 7, could be worth a try aswell:)

edit, i would also let windows 7 install its driver first then install catalyst over it
