Inception - July 16th

SPOILER
2) Bit confused what you mean - Leo was already in limbo with his wife and the architect bird before Saito died and effectively joined them. Due to differing timings between the levels it was gonna take time for him to pop up. Still confused why Saito was old and Leo wasnt when they meet in Limbo, especially as he gets there before him (though at the start of the film it appears he was washed up). Perhaps the length of time experienced between people can be different in limbo...

ps3ud0

This is my take on things:

Everytime they switch down a level time flows differently.

At level 1 dreamstate an hour might be a day or more in equivalency for level 2 dreamstate, further down to level 3 dreamstate time multiplies again, and then further into the next level again even more so. When Saito died in the film and went into limbo or the 4th level of dreamstate, it was a bit of time prior to DiCaprio joining him there.

The short time it took between Saito dieing and DiCaprio joining him have been enough for Saito to grow old before he gets there simply due to the way time flows differently.

i.e . 20 minutes in the 3rd level of dreamstate could be years worth of time in the limbo dreamstate.

This is of course also how the van was slowly going off the bridge whilst they did loads of stuff in the dreamstates, mere seconds converts into a very long time at the lower dreamstates.

The question I have is that Leo was already in Limbo with his dead wife and the Architect, the Architect returned back to reality via the kicks but Leo elected to stay to find Saito.

We know Saito died after Leo/Architect went to find Fischer in Limbo as he was asked to protect his body...

Therefore if Leo was already in Limbo before Saito entered why was he still young when he found Saito again?!? At no point did it appear he left Limbo, more that it was reconstructed. This seems to conflict with the 'swept onto the beach' part which seems to symbolise entering Limbo..

Have I recalled the film wrong or did people miss that?

Girl behind us in the queue leaving the cinema said very loudly, "well, that's three hours of my life I wont ever get back" .....I thought that was rather harsh, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's not a movie for the cinema environment, though. Far too long! Can't wait for the DVD release.

Could someone please clear this up though(SPOILER):

The spinning thingy at the end, was it going to fall, meaning he was finally in reality? Or, did it continue spinning because he was infact still dreaming? Maybe up to the viewer to decide?

I thought it might've been to let the possibility of him still dreaming to be left open, making it a cliff hanger. But my GF seems adamant it was DEFINITELY going to fall.

It's supposed to let you decide. Personally, i think it falls. You could hear it falter as if the spin was changing, like when you spin a coin and you hear it make a little jumping sound.

Precisely!

Oh, and I agree on the ending. It's left to the viewer to decide whether it was a dream or not, so that they can come to OcUK and debate on and on and on... :D

I thought there was distinctive sound of totem falling after fade to black. However, the spinning toy, if I understood the concept, is not the proof of his reality. It is HER totem, he carries as a test that SHE is not part of the dream/current reality. His totem, is his kids faces. He doesn't see his kids faces in dreams/memories, only in real world.

Awsome!!

Did anyone notice in the snow scene towards the end, where dicaprio had the gun looking down towards that building aiming through the scope towards that guard, does anyone think that complex looked a lot like the snow mutliplayer map on modern warfare 2?

I've had a lucid dream, and I was scared ****. NEVER do i want to experience that again. The feeling of being trapped on not wakening up is not nice, and then realising you have woken up twice from 2 dreams.

I didnt even know what it was until i googled it

Not sure if iv read this right, however being trapped in a dream is not lucid dreaming, lucid dreaming is the ability to self teach your mind what is real and what is not through performing a series of regular excersies, and from this you can teach yourself to find markers within a dream which will subconciously tell your mind that your in a dream, you can then begin to control it.

I watched this yesterday with the GF, we both enjoyed it.

It was quite hard to keep hold of the film however I thought it was very well done.

I thought this was just me... 'why are they on Sub Base?'

I really liked the film, the only thing that I've found confusing, is why doesn't Fischer remember the dream?

Saito remembered when they did it to him at the start.

I considered maybe that it's because Saito actually found them out in his dream - but Cobb made Fischer aware what was going on, to a point.

Just didn't seem to quite add up.

.

I think the bemused look he gives Cobb and perhaps the others after they are in the departure area suggests that he does remember something.
But it doesn't matter. In his last dream he took what he thought was his father's will out of a safe, but it was really 'the idea'. The trick was to manipulate him into willingly taking that idea.
Even if he now meets up with Browning and tells him he had this dream where Browning betrayed him and they laugh it off, the idea is still in there.
At least that's what I think.

And I found this: http://www.pasivdevice.org/

OK a quick question if someone can clear it up for me:

So when Fischer dies briefly in the snow setting dream, and goes therefore into limbo, how come Cobb finds him in his dream and not in Limbo?

Awesome movie, must be seen in the cinema.
Avatar doesn't hold a candle to this gem, truly worth every penny !! The score was absolutely brilliant as well.

I'm taking the GF to see this tomorrow.

Is it worth me;

A) Getting and Orange Wednesdays code and chancing it for £10 total spend.

or

B) Paying for a train for me and her to go to an Imax (£12 total) and booking in advance premier seats (about £24). So £36 total.

Is the film worth £26 extra for Imax and premier seats?
