^ Both the iPad (1+2) and Vega are well priced. Test them out and pick your fav.

I'm a heavy flash user for video content and it doesn't impact battery life that much tbh.
With the addition of gpu acceleration (only honeycomb/tegra 2 atm) it should cut power draw/improve performance even further.

(Those great powerVR SGX gpus also support flash acceleration should Apple have a change in heart

I think they will, I don't think they have a choice. i's just a matter o when and by then. I'll probably have a couple of android devices and god knows how much money spent on apps and media, meaning I can't really change brands.

I can't see Apple bowing to the pressure created by Adobe. They'll push web developers to abandon flash in favour of HTML5 before they go back on their word.

Flash on OS X is horrendous in comparison to Windows, hence the comments that flash performance is dog slow. I've seen fans on my Mac Pro spin up because of an annoying flash advert.

If they worked together they could solve it. Only other option is to pay or build apps themselves on behalf of companys. I think they realise the threat of android, something they haven't really had before. Even with ipods they never had such competition.

What are you referring to here as this is the only thing that puts be back from getting an ipad; if it plays on-demand tv then the wife will take it like a shot but needs to be easy to use.

BTW nothing against flash personally but it doesn't half make my macbook work hard!

GOing off course maybe, but whats the linklyhood of the iPad3 making an earlier than normal 1 yr cycle debut in this year...or will it jsut depend on competition?

Underwhelmed and will be sticking with my iPad.

I think it all depends on what else is released, if nothing major is released en masse i.e massive spec/software bump etc. before Autumn then I think we'll see another release next March.

If somehow other companies start rolling out massively better tech etc. then Apple may be forced to respond?

Hmm was thinking that...tho how likly is Apple able to repond quickly to teh market, coonsidering they have the entire market to cater for..in terms of being able to ramp up production quick enough.

Also..do we still not know whta ram is in the iPad2?

Well I went for a refurb iPad 1 in the end for £280 (with Quidco). Price was just too good to pass up, and I doubt I'll lose much on that when I do finally decide to upgrade. Will try to hold out for the retina-enhanced 3

^ LPDDR2 is fairly standard for the cortex A9 architecture, the A5 could have a dual-channel LPDDR2 memory controller though, like TIs OMAP4 (Tegra 2 only has a single-channel memory controller)
512MB will be enough for iOS 4.3 (still a fairly lightweight phone OS) but will start to struggle with greater multitasking features (like the ones found in QNX) So the iPad 2 might not receive the full iOS 5 feature set (whatever that is?

)

I'm sure it will. Apple won't release features that aren't supported on a device they released three months before... that would be crazy. I think 512MB is enough for the time being, although 1GB would have been nice.
