*** 2nd March - Apple Event - Official Thread ***

well lets look at the key points

The incase product is called "incase convertible book jacket for ipad"

Have a look at the incase website and you can clearly see it looks nothing like the apple product. Closed up, it looks like the official apple ipad 1 case that added the weight and bulk that jobs talked about removing.

The book jacket uses an elastic band to hold the two halfs of the jacket together. Which seems a bit clumsy to me. They could have used a magnet, but instead used a band. And its got 2 halfs.

So the ipad 2 case uses a more elegant solution - magnets, and avoids the need to add bulk and weight by only having one side. Its a cover. Not a case. Incase describe their product as a jacket.

Apple have also made it a really neat feature that the magnets not only hold the device in place, they orientate it correctly, and combined it with magnets on the ipad 2 to have it automatically take the ipad in/out of sleep mode. Something the incase product doesnt do and is all apple's own design.

The only bit thats the same is the segmented part that enables you to roll it into different shapes. But thats not an incase idea, i've seen that elsewhere.

Its like complaining that a porsche isn't really a porsche because it uses a re hash of the VW beetle design.

It's pretty difficult to scratch the aluminium back though... the edges yes, but the back on mine is spotless. The iphone 4 is far worse in this respect.

Mind you, it's nigh on impossible to scratch the gorilla glass so not entirely sure what the point is of this cover! :p

I have 2 scratches on mine....thankfully it is on the edge, not above the display itself.

Yup, and you can still see it after I put on a screen protector....and then I somehow scratched it again!! its like a knife point and pushed through the screen protector and into the glass below :/ I have no idea how, and it happened 2mm right of the first scratch!!!

How much would a 32G 3G go for??? Might upgrade if i can sell it, will include the Apple case, Apple dock, and a couple of other cases for free.
