Definately go for the new one Stinky.

I'm personally going for 32GB, I'll never get near 64GB (and probably not near 32GB either but there we go :p) and it does cost a fair whack more.

yea i usually end up going.... well maybe ill need the bigger one maybe ill need 3g maybe ill need 64gb lol

but if O2 dont charge insain money for tethering then i wont need the 3g. i suppose if they do i could go for a three mifi and link it with that. prob be cheaper

Hmm, quite tempted by the new iPad... Is it me or does the iPad 2 have a shorter rated battery life or are they just measuring the battery life with more typical usage?
It's because there's not really a culture of paying for apps on the Android Market. A high proportion of Android apps are free compared to iOS apps. There's no point investing money in a full-featured Android app if you're not going to get the money back.
Surely that's going to result in not very many high quality Android apps then?

I won't upgrade on the first day as I have more pressing things to buy.

But one thing is for sure. I don't have to eat my hat.

SD card slot????? HA!
Retina Display on 9.7" screen????? HA HA!!!

:p

As for the iPad 2 hardly anything we didn't expect , usual apple style in releases. I will keep my current pad and see what a couple of years bring to the table

This is by far the smartest way to approach the scenario - especially considering that the 'iPad3' is likely to be as nice and thin as this one but have a new OS, be more powerful and likely a better screen. Seems madness to buy one of these if you already have an iPad1.

Better yet wait and see how the tablet market pans out because there are some seriously clever devices coming out that have significantly more potential than Apple seems to be offering now.

Doing what I did with my iPhone. Missing this slight spec update and wait for the much better device.

This to me is like going from an iPhone 3G to a 3GS. I'll wait for the iPad 3 which is hopefully what the iPhone4 did to the 3G!

I would have bought an ipad 2 on release if it had Flash. The ipad is missing stuff that I would like such as an sd card slot and proper hdmi-out with a real hdmi cable. I'm also not keen on being bound by iTunes and not having access to the system for tweaking, but the flipside of such control by apple is that things work, so I put up with it on my iphone.

The only thing it's missing that I just can't forgive is Flash. Let's face it, the ipad is not for content creation. It's for web surfing and games, maybe peppered with some apps that replicate website functionality. I don't want to have to resort to my laptop for something as bog-standard as viewing a webpage with flash in it. It's just not good enough.

I wish just ONE of the android manufaturers would bring out an equivalent to the ipad with Flash! It should be simple, shouldn't it :(

Flash on portable devices is hard because of the battery draw.

I've never understood this argument. Who cares if a feature is a battery drain if it's being actively used? There's lots of features on the iPad that are already a much bigger battery drain (screen, WiFi, 3G, games...).

The only reason that Flash hasn't happened sooner on Android is that Adobe are wholly incompetent.

I agree.
There is NO reason other than politics for the omission of Flash on the ipad.

Rearrange into an appropriate sentence.
"pull adobe your out finger "

I'm officially boycotting Macbreak weekly for at least 2 months. All they'll bang on about is video out and how they have preordered 2 each.

Ahh Leo Laporte and Alex Lyndsey. "We have ten of each Apple device"

I like MacBreak Weekly but that does get a little droll.

iPad 2 great. Hater (as always) are going to hate but it is a worthy second gen. Just need iOS5 and whatever Apple are doing with that datacentre...

Flash is a load of crapware, be glad you haven't seen it on a tablet device.

Yes, given a choice it would be nice to have the option, but I don't miss it. I can count on one hand the instances where I've got to a site that required it. How long have Android been promising flash support? About as long as the Playbook took to come to market (ages).

How does one go about getting an iPad 2 from Apple on release day? Is is just a case of hoping your local store has stock and camping outside until midnight?

Just visit an Apple store on release day. Don't camp out.. it's a speed bump, not a new product category.
