680 SLI is a tad OTT for a single 3D 1080P screen, a single one would suffice. Now that you've got it you may as well keep it though :p

I wouldn't dare send it back (shipped, don't have them yet) unless defective. As I've said above I think OCUK would ban me after 2 recent cards I've sent back :D. I'll just have to add 2 screens when I've got the money, still to buy the first one though and other things (PSU/Kboard/Mouse/ExtraGlasses). I hope the second card will do me justice in some situations in 3D as I'd hate to waste it.

Do you still have the 7970s Lightning?. If so, how are you finding them?.

I was more worried it was way overpowered. From your graph, it seems as if it'll be enough for max settings or near too @ 1080 in the most demanding games but fly in most. Now I've got to worry about CPU grunt. I can't wait but won't be able to experience 3D till the end of the week. Cards come tomorrow but PSU Wednesday/Thursday.

Thank you for your input, it's appreciated. My 10 minutes on Black Ops in 3D doesn't give me much experience to shine from plus it was 2 card generations ago and there's new games a plenty.

Bear in mind my graph is 2D @ 5760*1080 :).

It's people like you can cause a company to remove BETA testing from public. thank you very much.
The general rule is expect BETA Drivers to be broken

I don't think AMD letting you try out "unfinished" drivers is really that altruistic is it? :D

I also don't think the default position is to assume they're broken. Fine, report any issues but you test them from a position of assumed improvements and workability otherwise why bother?

The default assumption with any BETA testing is always "something will be wrong with it"

The very reason BETA testing exists is to identify those problems which often can only be found when used on a mass scale adding the mass of variables that brings.

May i remind everyone of the thread title.

I just ran a quick 10 minute benchmark with my i5 @ 3.7ghz stock and 4.7ghz overclocked.

I was convinced that i could feel no difference from overclocking my 2500k and i was correct.

Battlefield 3 - Bandar Desert - 64 man server
Low Quality Preset @1080p 2500k @3.7ghz

I can't feel the difference on my x6 Thuban either, but i have seen people on stock or lightly clocked x4's bottleneck a 7950. especially if well clocked.

I think it's case of SB having the muscle to deal with it to start with.

Yeah, almost makes me think i should just run it at stock setting tbh, maybe 4ghz or something.

Can run 4ghz at 1.2v and under as opposed to 1.4 and under for 4.7.

matt, is that your every day 79 clocks?

If it is, then I'm feeling better that I don't have a lazy 79.;)

No Tommy, however those settings are enough for any game to run smoothly, including bf3 full ultra.

My 24/7 settings are 1200/1700. My max fully stable settings are 1225/1750. It can gi higher on the core, up to 1250 or so but once i hit 75c artifacts arrive, and i can't keep it cool enough.

Ultra Quality Preset @1080p 2500k @3.7ghz
7970 -12.9 Beta+12.9 Caps @ 1200/1700

Will run it again now with my i5 @4.7ghz.

Settings Maxed, IE,- Max Preset and 8f16x EQAA ?

That is low, very low for a 7950, i'm getting ~20% higher FPS on a 7870 @ 1200 / 1500.

Drivers 12.8,

I might run it again on 12.9 later.

I cant find any preset option? Just everything set to the highest it can go and yeah, 8f16xEQAA.
Might roll back to 12.8 and see what happens because Im sure I had similar/ better results from my 6950.

Whats the program running in the top left of your screen?

EDIT:
Getting some nasty crashes, "AMD driver has stopped working, but has been recovered successfully".
Still at stock, drivers must not like my card.
