AMD Driver/Benchmark Review Thread

It would be cool if a couple of you lazy punk AMD owners would do a bench test on a few games at 1080P :) I am off for 2 weeks next week and will do some single screen testing with fraps showing min/avg/max fps on a 1200 second. Bench.

Gregster I'm off 2 days this week, be happy to run some benches.

Oooh it's Thor vs Thor :D. Who's Lightning shall prevail?!. Stay tuned....

Even better, why don't we all play some BF3 together and start recording frames at the same time? ;)

Sounds good cleee, but your frame rates might be higher stuck in the re-spawning screen the whole time :p

Hides in the corner, cleee knows my only BF3 weekness is being nothing short of terrible in an aircraft

We'll keep the clocks average so its user relative, I'll be doing one run at full ref stock of 925/1375 and another at what I consider an average high OC of 1200/1600. I fully expect the cards to even out tbh, like how my 7970 gets beaten easily by 680's in 3dmark11 yet no 680 is touching my 7970 in Heaven, it can be application/driver dependant.

As much as I'd love to bench at 1350/1950 I don't think that would be helping anyone :p

I have sent you an Origin request PGI. I looked for you on steam but no joy :(

Sounds like a plan. If we do it next week that would be cool.

lol...None of that. It just gives honest user benchmarks instead of the 'questionable' benchmarks from review sites.

From PGI's list I have 3 of those games installed (BF3/Crysis 2/Dirt3) I will redownload Skyrim again before I am off.

So those 4 games is cool if anybody wants to give a go on other GPU's (7950/7870/7850/670/660ti/660). Nothing to do with boasting but just honest results.

This.

It will give us a reference point when a users asks "what card should I buy" without the inevitable argument of biased benchmarks and benchmarks on release day drivers.

I'll be on Origin just shortly and I'll try figure out why you can't find me on steam.

Im in for this.
Ill have a gigabyte 7950 delivered tomorrow to replace my sapphire 7950.
Ive got Dirt showdown and Sleeping dogs, so will upload some screenies tomorrow.

Sounds good, going to try put them in a bar chart or something from FRAPS for easier user viewing :)

@Gregster i'll add you once I get on my PC, doing anything on steam in OSX is like trying to play football in 3 feet of snow.

Yep anyone interested, I will set a new thread for Charts only and no slating or fanboy chat.

Fraps 1200 second benchmark. All game settings on ultra/max please.

:D:p

You know me too well lol - C4 suicide FTW!

Sometimes it a necessary suicide :D

Screenies are cool but you get a true reading of fps from fraps as it monitors the lowest fps, the average fps and the highest fps. If I was interested in buying a new GPU, I would be looking at the average and lowest as this is what shows when gaming.

heres one for dirt3 with 7850 at stock voltages but 1050mhz core and 1375mhz memory

all game settings as high as they will go

I'm looking forward to this as I do not trust review sites any more and user reviews can be conflicting. It would also be very useful if two 7950 (or 2 of any card) users with different CPUs/Sockets to show certain weaknesses on 64 man servers.

Well if Gregster can hit 1300 then it might be fun just to try. I'll be getting my cards tomorrow but I've got a lot of fiddling to do so I'll remain a spectator in this. Thank you for offering to do this, it's appreciated.

What are you try to say I was implying?. :D :p haha I was just messing about Gregster. As I said to PJ above, I hope more users can join this server and report their findings as it may show architectural differences. As I experienced a noticeable difference between the 7970 @ 1175Mhz vs the GTX 670 @ 1200Mhz and heard that others have reported they do not share my experience then I'd be interested in the outcome of this.

Thank you. Looking forward to this.

Running a few benches now via FRAPS now I've found a nice easy place to do a fancy bar chart :D

I will stick them up in another thread and see about getting it stickied.
