HP ML110 G7 32GB RAM - Cashback

Does anyone know if these are going to, or currently support the new IvyBridge processors? I.e E3-1220V2 and E3-1230V2 etc etc.

They have been out for ages now, and all HP's rivals have updated theirs to IvyBridge.

I wonder if it will be a simple BIOS Update or whether HP will release a new server, hence all the deals on these??

Can anyone "in the know" comment?!

I tried a E3-1245V2 in one a couple of months ago and it wouldn't post, latest BIOS.

ML110 G7 E3-1220 3D Bluray

Hi,

I am new at most of this so want your advice. I want to get a video card for ML110 G7 E3-1220, which is kinda future proof & capable of playing 3D bluray with ease to a connected LED TV. I was looking at Asus AMD Radeon HD 6670 ([competitor link removed for this purpose. From what I could find online I take it that it needs to handle to HDMI 1.4a. Is this a good enough option or is there something better?

Thanks for all your help ...

iLO has it's own separate network port, you configure it with an ip and can connect to it via a browser.

iLO runs it's own hardware and software independent of the server OS etc that you can connect into which links into the main bits.

So you can do remote management stuff, remote desktop, watch a server POST etc.

Should be able to just configure an IP and login and you're away.

Hi

iLo only seems to work if set to shared network port, when I select enabled(I take it this option is for dedicated?) - I set the static IP as before- MAC address changes the last character, ilo restarts and NO access, I have to boot from the management disc/usb and reset the ilo that way, then back to the shared setting and it works ok - As far as I am aware I have put in the advanced ilo license key correctly. Does anyone know I have to buy any other option for a dedicated ilo port on the ml11o g7's?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions......

I'd like to confirm that the 8Gb 240-pin DIMM, DDR3 PC3-10600 memory module Part Number: CT102472BD1339 does definitely work and get recognised by the HP ProLiant ML110 G7 Server.

[removed link to the Crucial UK Store as it's a shop (no official specs page without buy button) and didn't want to link competitiors]

I generally prefer Crucial RAM for some weird reason.

No evidence or anything to back it up just some legacy personal preference.

But they didn't claim support. On paper it should be supported if the Kington is, but not guaranteed which means I may have had issues getting a refund if it all went horribly wrong.

Then I found out they were £10-20 more a stick and I wanted 4, so I'd settled on the Kingston KTH-PL313E/8G reported by many to work.

Was just about to pull the lever and stumbled across the popular rainforest online store selling them waaaaaaaay cheaper than Crucial themselves and about £2-5 less than the Kingston's.

1 arrived yesterday and was fitted along with the stock RAM. Server now reporting 10Gb in the BIOS, Solaris 11.1 and OpenIndiana

So I cannot currently guarantee the ful 32Gb will be seen as I've not tested that........yet

2nd 8Gb stick should arrive tomorrow and I'll fund the next 2 from my Feb/March pay on the 28th.

Anyone got any idea when these will come back on cashback? My home built server just popped it's PSU. :(

Ideally want to avoid putting money in it as it's mostly old, rubbish hardware.

On all the ML110 G7s I've seen, the dedicated ILO port is an option - part code 514206-B21. Will cost you about £25. You need an ILO Advanced License for full KVM access - part 512485-B21 and around £50 on The Bay. It's just a license code you type into the ILO web GUI to active the extra features.

AFAIK it's End Of Life (EOL). The HP distributors we buy from aren't expecting any more stock. HP are pushing the ML310e G8 as the replacement.

Ah right. I'll be happy with a G8! According to the specs I've found they support 32gb of RAM out of the box, and I think they have the E3-1220V2 whereas the G7 had the V1?

Don't suppose you know if/when the G8 will come on the cashback deal?
