Looks very nice. I wouldn't bother upgrading the stem to a carbon one

Save the money for a new frame and transfer everything over.

This. My carbon stem cost around 5x as much as my Alu one and there's only around 15g between them. No noticeable ride difference. I mainly preferred the aesthetics but it's a wedge for a visual upgrade that would be better spent elsewhere.

After a month or so of riding a 3 year old carrera vulcan with road style tyres that I picked up off ebay, I got myself a new 2014 specialized allez sport today from the bike shop down the road. Paid for it and went back a couple of hours later to pick it up and they chucked in a couple of water bottles and holders. No where near as good as most the bikes in this thread but I love it :D

Don't fret, I comfortably claim the wooden spoon for riding the worst piece of junk in this thread.

I have:

- 1kg Fructose
- 1kg Maltodextrin
- 250g Electrolyte mix
- 100g Caffeine

Time for the Breaking Bad energy drink special.

I'm watching S02 of BB right now. I don't bother with Fructo/Dextro just Malto it's quickly absorbed and almost flavourless. Hope you got the right scoop for the caffeine as 0.25g is around 5 coffee's

I was looking at a carbon seatpost for when I get my bike next year. I'll probably go for it, as it's not massively more, and I'll never bother if I don't stick it on from new, but I'm not expecting miracles.

I checked the LD50 of caffeine on Wikipedia. 100g is enough to kill 7 or 8 people.

That 100g is about enough for 4000 servings of mixture equivalent to high5 energy source +.

Looks very nice. I wouldn't bother upgrading the stem to a carbon one as alu is usually stiffer, lighter and cheaper. I also wouldn't be racing on carbon bars - if you crash it's very hard to tell whether they are damaged and they're one of the last things you want to fail unexpectedly on a bike, especially in a race.

Fair enough! I'll save myself the ££! Im pretty happy with the allez frame tbh. Might wait until I see something special. :-)

What are their limits as far as paints jobs go?

I say a chap on a Hetchins the other day and it was beautiful. Metallic orange at the front and going through red and burgundy to a deep purple at the back. The lugs were picked out like flames.

Stunning.

Energy drink successfully mixed! I have just over 1.5Kg of mixture that is broadly equivalent to High 5 Energy Source +, which just needs to be added to water or squash.

I worked out that at this stage it has cost about 26p per 46g serving, which is a bit over half the price of buying the best value tub of High 5 powder, so even allowing for buying squash I'm way ahead. On top of that, I've got enough caffeine powder to last me the rest of my life, enough electrolyte powder for another 8 or 9 batches of this stuff, and enough maltodextrin for 1 more batch. So all I'll need for the next lot is £6 worth of fructose.

In short... absolute bargain.
