hows this for all-year round commuter? would love one!
You'd probably find the weight of the internal gear hub to be quite annoying. Although that said, there's a Di2 version of the Alfine hub, so it might be worth putting up with the weight for the joy of zero-maintenance. You wouldn't even need to muck around with that fiendish yellow dot as the electronic shifting would automatically adjust itself.

I think they have a seatstay splitters.

Indeed. You can have a connector half way up the seat stay, or removing the dropout splits the frame where the stays meet.

I cant see how a seatstay splitter would work on that frame with the integrated pannier rack thing? I guess it could detach at the top where it joins to the single tube but that would mean threading the belt round the whole pannier thing to get it off.

A split at the dropout would make more sense, but it looks like a pretty delicate joint to the split there?

edit: yeah, it's split at the dropout. Found this picture on their website. Doesnt look like the strongest join to me.

It's similar to the one used by Spot on the Mod Disc SS

They are mated horizontally and vertically. I had the same on my Civia. It's pretty strong but it does require pretty beefy chainstays.

I've just taken delivery of my first ever cycling bibs and they crush my nuts just a little bit (these are XLs!). Will they stretch a little once I wear them in or should I exchange for a bigger size straight away?

How do they feel when you are on the bike? They are designed for you to be in a riding position rather than standing up, so they can often feel a little tight if you're just standing around.

If they're still uncomfortable though i'd consider sizing up. They should be stretchy enough already to not need 'worn in' really.

Madness clearly runs in the family as my wife is currently hammering herself on the turbo. Measured her FTP as 217W so all that time she spends chasing me has clearly been to some benefit. :p

My mrs, with no prompting whatsoever, said to me that when I get my new bike I should put some flat pedals on my old one and then she can ride it. She's said I'll have to tell her some good routes to do on her days off when I'm at work and will have to nag her to make sure she keeps to whatever training regime I come up with.

Your s-1 just got an extra allowance ;)
