There's only a 'tax issue' if you want to try and engineer a tax avoidance strategy/find a way out of it. If they're willing to stump up the cash, they're willing to stump up the cash. That's why Bayern would've taken a month - they knew they had a month, so they decided to use that time to try and limit what they paid. Otherwise it's just simple, black letter law :\.

Bilbao couldn't've just refused the money, if Manyoo went down the buyout route. They can refuse to sell for x price... even a bid matching the listed buyout price. But if a buying club/player use the Decreto Real 1006/1985 route, the selling club can't stop them. However, that comes with pretty bad ramifications which makes the effective cost far higher (it's when the player has to get the money off the buying club, pay tax on it, then give it to the selling club). The buyout remains the same, but the effective cost of activating skyrockets. Hence why they weren't going to go down that hostile route.

Why's he unreliable?

Sure Moses, apart from everyone else has said that the Martinez deal was held up for the tax and because Bilbao refused to accept the money into their account too.

And asking why Balague is unreliable, when you are also quoting Bleacher Report, is quite funny.

if utd bought ozil it would have been a luxury not a necessity we needed a cm for years but ozil would disrupt kaga and rooney who are already not getting as much game time , I bet fergie would have hijacked it though and played him in cm :D the deal was drawn out apparently hoping utd would come in but never did

Why do people care about 4 million lol

Utd fans want to find any reason Moyes or Woodfart may have shown some business acumen over the summer to cling onto the hope they won't both fail massively in the future......

Ultimately 4mil doesn't matter much at all but if Fellani turns out to continue to be a 5-6 game a season player with the rest being mostly yellow cards, elbows and awesome hair, then it will seem like a less bad deal.

But I gotta say I am glad we got Ozil though. Glad not only Arsene broke the habbit and spent money, but also signed a proven world class player. His assists and ability to pin point passes will help us a lot. Giroud will become even better with Ozil providing the bullets.

I do think we needed another proven DF though but none the less very happy Ozil is here.

Mesut Ozil's interview since he joined Arsenal :)

Lets go Gunners :D:D

Dont think ive been this excited since we signed Bergkamp many years ago :D

Woohooo bring on Sunderland

Meanwhile Express claiming Levy got his knickers in a twist

Don't know what to make of this tbh you cant really stop Real selling to Arsenal if the player wants champions league and not Thursday night kick about ;)

To save face. For a club managed by the man that most probably helped put that clause in Fellaini's deal to begin with, to end up paying an extra £4m because they left it too late is ridiculously stupid.

Moyes & Utd probably thought Everton would cave in and sell on the cheap and it back-fired.

LOL i dont know how true that is as its the express but if it is then good, we taught them a lesson on Sunday then managed to get Ozil as well. Despite them trying to drag the Balegate saga out to the last minute. Did read that both Real and Arsenal colluded behind the scenes to make this deal happen. If what above is true, then what a spiteful little man Levy is.

Cant wait for our next game, should smash Sunderland to pieces tbh even without Ozil:p. Hate this international break lol, dying to see how we play with Ozil in the side.

Whether they look ridiculous or not is really up to how well he performs though, 4 million is pretty meaningless to manu. Didn't it expire in July or something, so if he wasn't the no.1 target for midfield 4mil extra last minute or 14 days earlier wouldn't have mattered

You don't know what to make of it?

"but the German international reportedly became increasingly as the transfer window drew to a close enabling Arsenal to snap him up."

They can't even be bothered to edit pure speculation these days

Lets be honest, that was one of the least calamitous things we managed this transfer window. I reckon Everton could have extorted 30m out of us if they wanted to. There would have been a mutiny if we had signed no one at all.

LOL poor Ronaldo is not at all happy with Ozil coming to us, thats ok Ronaldo you can always come to us to join your former teammate;):p.

'The sale of Ozil is very bad news for me,' he said.

'He was the player who best knew my moves in front of goal... I'm angry about Özil leaving.'

Real claim the move to Arsenal is a result of Ozil wanting to leave, but he had been told to go because the club need to pay loans taken out to bring in Bale, costing £100m-plus in repayments.

Bale will not be able to offer Ozil’s ability to find Ronaldo with a pass anywhere on the pitch, as the Portugal star alluded to.

Ronaldo's words come after a host of other top Real players spoke out on their team-mate's departure for London.

Such was Ozil’s popularity at the Bernabeu, he was one of the few players with friends on both sides of the club’s divide.

Its from the Daily Fail so take it with a pinch of salt but even on SSN the other day and today a few Real players have voiced their unhappiness at Ozil being sold to us. Khedira was speaking in a press conference and he said he knew about it a few days before it happened.

I did say a few pages back that its a huge loss for Real to see Ozil go as he is an assist monster, tied with Messi last season with the most assists:eek:

Not many Real fans or players seem to be happy with him leaving. I know stats and reports only paint a certain picture but i'm certainly happier having read lots about him.

Lol, Real have made a bit of a hash of this. Ronaldo might get less goals and be unhappy as a result and unless Bale picks up the slack they might not have strengthened at all.

I would have said keeping Ronaldo happy was more important than buying Bale.

Yep, Ozil leaving seems to have created more than a few rifts within the camp. I guess the forward line (behind the striker) will be Ronaldo - Isco - Bale, and Isco is a big hit with the fans and a top player so they should be okay without Ozil.

Utd have been in for Fellaini (and Baines) all summer. It wasn't as if they decided on him with a week to go. And £4m can't be that meaningless if they were hoping (and bidding) to get him for less than £23m to begin with.
