I see where you are going and I dont disagree, but the wages he was after would have been up there with RvP / Rooney - and with the fee RM was on it was an insane amount for a player not really required

Isn't he on £130k? Rooney is on more like £250k isn't he? And Rooney is a backup player...

I think if utd got ozil it would have placed them top again with rvp waiting for the ball.

And even better still someone posted a few pages ago about Gervinho being put through in a game for Roma, only for him to fluff it up like he did at Arsenal:p. Im just surprised that Wenger ditched him so suddenly, not that i want the spamhead back but i guess Wenger decided this summer that hes had enough of our rubbish players, got rid of 17 of them either on loan or for free and that in turn released some much needed money to get Ozil in.

Just selling gervinho for £8m was bonus enough lol I thought we would have to give him away. In my mind that reduces ozil back to £34m ;)

Im interested in seeing if the greatest striker ever gets a look in, I think he would be good back up for giroud if he can sort himself out. And playing him in his natural position would be a rare thing.

I don't get those slating the ozil deal. hes a great buy. top 3 player for Germany, one of the best nations in the world.

Utd don't have top players from any successful nations except RVP.

Yes we have some Brazilians, but hey they aren't the best Brazilians nor anywhere near. Sure we have A Spaniard, you know that nation that has steamrollered all before it for years and he isn't even a first choice.

true we have some Englishmen, but only rooney is a first choice or could be considered a top 3 player of the squad and England are overall pap.

That's why we play such a poor style, we have too many Englishmen:/ And hardly even the best ones then.

Sigh, I'm going to bite. No he isn't.

Exactly even at the time it was reported it told he was on that potentially with image rights bonuses etc but everyone now clings to that like he's on 250k per week guarenteed :D

It's amazing how this guesses by papers become factual over time, unless you meant rooney as a back up player then I miss-understood ;)

I wonder what other teams do when they have more than eleven good players

LOL Spurs wouldnt know as they have never been in that position:p.

Lets be honest its no secret Ozil was having issues at RM, and that with the Bale deal being agreed Real were looking to trim the squad. Spending 42.5 when the above was obvious is very unlike Wenger - Ozil should have been around 30m tops not 42.5m.

Yet we offered 40m and 1 pounds for Suarez when Liverpool were crying out for 50m, I know who I would have spent the extra 10m on ;)

Id rather have Ozil for what we paid rather than pay £50mill+ for Suarez, who would have caused us grief on and off the pitch ;). Plus you can bitch about it all you like but the simple fact of the matter is that Liverpool were never going to sell Suarez to us even for £50mill. If it was Real then i could see them possibly off-loading Suarez to them as Real arent in the PL as it is. But seems like everything is alll hunky dory with Suarez and Liverpool now.

Indeed it was, now he can **** off the Roma fans, Thanks Roma for taking him off us, did us a huge favour there.

Bendtner?? well he was earlier saying on SSN that he wanted to move but now will commit himself to Arsenal and give his all. I reckon Wenger will probably use him in the league cup games, give Giroud a bit of a rest as he will be busy fighting for goals in our other 3 fronts ie CL, PL and FA cup. Probably see Akpom get a look in as well, again league cup games.

Would've liked another attacking signing, ideally a creative CM but a decent (cheap) window for Fulham I guess:

Derek Boateng - Free
Fernando Amorebieta - Free
Maarten Stekelenburg - £3.5m
Giorgos Karagounis - Free (again)
Adel Taraabt - Loan
Darren Bent - Loan (£2.5-4m agreed)
Sascha Riether - £1.2m
Scott Parker - £2m
Elsad Zverotic - £300k

Total: £7m

Also a very highly rated youngster on a free from PSG, Ange-Freddy Plumain.

Cool I followed Bendtner since he first came to us and always had high hopes for him even if it were else where.

He's not the worlds greatest striker but he could do a good job for us if played in the right position. He was clinical in the reserves. Could work out good for both parties.

Yeah I said yesterday if we couldn't get a striker we'd probably have to rope him back into the fold, and it looks like this is the case. I'd hope he applies himself, scores a few then we can loan him out in January, get someone else in and everyone's happy. His contract is up in the summer so I think he's destined to leave on a free.

I really like Ozil. Rarely loses the ball and has a great eye for a pass, especially through balls. With Walcott's pace if teams play a high line I can see them working well together.
