MX5 Owners in here....bring your curling tongs

Bump....

Any other owners with a Galaxy Grey MX5? If so, I have a spare bottle of Mazda Touch-up Paint (+lacquer) if you want it. Replaced my MX5 now, so have no need for it.

It's been used but there's plenty left. Can be quite pricey to buy this stuff new, so if anyone wants it, holler. I'd only ask a couple of quid for postage :)

hmm, almost got my 5 fixed up how I want it (Will get some pictures as soon as it's stops bloody raining!).

Got a bit of a strange problem, getting a double beep from the dash (beep-beep every 120 odd seconds, not a loud beep - pretty subtle) - even when the engine is on/off , key is in or out - vehicle in motion or stopped.

I've tested the door latches manually (pressing them in to see if it was that) & it doesn't seem so.

The only thing I've changed recently is the side-lights (replace the LED's with pure white more normal ones, didn't like the blue tint at all) - along with replacing the headlights with white light ones.

Getting no warning lights or anything, the only thing left to try is a full battery disconnect/reconnect to see if that fixes it, but online can't find any info for mk1 eunos warning beep codes.

My 5 after a full respray and after fitting the OEM tails.. very pleased with her now and the weather has just turned nice too :)

Bledd - really loving the colour combo on your car (edit: sorry, not your car apparently :P ), seems more of a Mk3 scheme and I dont recall seeing it on a Mk2.

I have to give a recommendation to yellow stuff pads on the Mk3.5 we have. They are quite dusty compared to the standard pads, but they give an exceptional feel and performance. I'm not sure i've actually driven a car on the road with better brake feel, they really are very good on this car and suffer no fade even when driven very hard over prolonged times. The discs on my wife's MX5 were a little tired but now the pads have bedded into the discs they are superb with exceptionally good braking.

Thumbs up from me.

I just had two set of cosworth streetmaster pads fitted to my mk3, along with stoptech discs, hel lines and some motul fluid (all fitted by Fuzz from these forums at powerstation). Expect these will be pretty awesome once bedded in, the stock brakes seemed pretty good in terms of feel but lacked bite to me. Did ponder the ebcs but read mixed things about them over the years. Brakes are a strong point of the NC cars generally, for stopping distances it competes with or even outdoes some quite serious metal according to testing done by a us magazine....check this link:

Also had the geo adjusted, got some seized parts that need sorting but its stuck in reasonable alignment overall, just needs a track rod and nut, and a camber and castor bolt freeing up/replacing. Will get the parts and get it done at some point.

Earlier in the week I also fitted an AEM intake, sounds a bit nicer and the engine seems to rev a bit quicker, but not a huge difference. Whilst i had the bumper off to do that I also swapped the headlights for ones without the orange indicator lens (as fitted to the eu spec cars or the niseko uk limited edition cars)- it now has a clear lens, with silvatec bulbs it does look cleaner:cool:

Did I manage to get your steering wheel straight Will, as I was lifting the car suspension up on the spanner as I tried to adjust that seized trackrod so it messed with the cameras/settings somewhat. :o
MX-5's have to be THE worst car for seized adjusting bolts :( (apart from BMW trackrod ends.) and yours isn't even that old!

Never mind, gets some bits and I'll swing on things a bit more violently next time, see what happens :D

Know the feeling - really want to get another coat of Gtechniq on my roof

Possibly the seatbelt warning beep?

My '5 finally got bitten by the rust bug, with two small patches needing welding on the underside, and a warning about one of the sills. I have tried to keep it as clean and dry as possible but have struggled.

£200 to get through MOT isn't that bad, considering the car has cost me virtually nothing since getting it.

Wondered who that was...! :D

As for the Civic...I had an accident on the M6, ended up with front and rear end damage and it was written off. Have to say, the MX-5 is way more fun to drive even though its slower. Can't say I like how the change came about, but I prefer the car I have now!

Evening all. Apologies if its common knowledge, what products is everyone using on their roofs to keep them in good condition?

Was going to grab an autoglym roof care set today but thought I would get some opinions first.

I use the autoglym pack you mention, seems to do the trick but people seem to rate the gtechniq stuff more, at least for the 'proofer' which aims to treat the roof snd make it repel water - the water beading effect apparently lasts longer.

I assumed the AG pack would be good. Never had any issues with their other products. I know megs do a soft top spray bit can't find any info on it.

Not heard of gtechniq before bit will check them out.

Picking it up Friday so will probably give it a detail on Saturday so I can spot any stuff I want to highlight to the body shop when they redo the arches.

Any ideas for sidelight bulbs for a Eunos, looking for something just white (no horrible blue tint, or the pathetically dull stock yellow either).

All the bulbs I've ordered which are called 'white' seem to be blue :/, then the LED ones look cheap & tacky.

Is it a vinyl or mohair roof?

If vinyl then AG vinyl and rubber care does a great job : http://www.autoglym.com/products/products/vinyl-and-rubber-care

If mohair then GTechniq I1 is hard to beat http://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/gtechniq/i1-smartfabric-coat-500ml.aspx
