HP Microserver+XPEnology

So I've got it installed and running but something is causing my discs to spin up every 30 mins or so (see screenshot). Any ideas?

thanks for the confirmation guys. Always a bit of a worry these days.

EDIT - did the update as usual and all goes the same until the big ten minute countdown. Here it counts down, but nothing happens. It doesn't restart and had to pull the plug and re-insert. Then it boots as normal.

Hi guys,

I'm attempting to update using the guide posted, I follow it to the exact letter (so ssh in and
sed 's/flashupdateDeb/flashupdateDeb1/' /[email protected]> /[email protected]
then
mv /[email protected] /[email protected]), everything is fine, but then when clicking update it goes to the countdown, gets to 1% and flashes up:

There is a temporary directory access error(2) during update.

Any other ideas?

Try doing it this way. I think Deuse originally posted it, but it was a while ago.

Go to control panels > Task Scheduler. Then create > user defined script. Call it something like update script. User: root, and paste in this without the quotes - "
sed 's/flashupdateDeb/flashupdateDeb1/' /[email protected]> /[email protected]
mv /[email protected] /[email protected]".

Now go to updates and download the update. Do Not update yet. Go to task scheduler, select the script and press run. Then back to the update and update.

Simple and no SSH'ing at all.

Hope that sorts you. Remember if you are doing v5 update 4, you will need to manually restart.

;)

I've just did the same and it updated. I did have to turn it off and on again to complete the install.

Why the beta? Try the released version of DSM 5 and see how you get on.

hmm the only DSM 5 I could find was beta?

ah edit I was getting it from xpenology.com, is xpenology.nl the place to get it from?

Is this stable to use 24/7?

double edit....

Its so long since ive used a sinology that I realise I can update from within the interface :)

Installed and running an absolute treat, my N54l has been up for a couple of days now. I'm a little concerned that my drives aren't hibernating, the logs show that the USB hard drive I connected up to transfer data back over is going into hibernate, but not the internal drives.

I've tried both un-mounting the USB stick, and removing it but neither seems to result in the internal drives hibernating.

Do I need to do anything else to get them to spin down?

Thanks.
