Show us your kitty cats

I don't know where you heard that but that's not true. Certainly not true with us in Belfast. Some cats who need rehomed, that have lived indoors with an elderly person all their lives, would require indoor living only as that is all they have known.

Before I got my Bella I emailed Cats Protection UK, after having been told by our local CP that I could not adopt a cat to live indoors.

I (eventually) did get an email from them, to say that their policy (in the UK, perhaps not where you are?) is that only FEV (etc) infected cats and injured (missing limb) cats will be given to indoor homes.

They went on to say that even indoor cats must be placed with outdoor homes. This is a hard and fast rule. The people I know personally who volunteer at our local CP say the same thing.

They will not give any healthy cat to an indoor home.

That's pretty damning.

I could understand if cats were like gold dust, but when there are so many strays, which cannot be re-homed and end up being put-down, this sends the message that they'd rather kill the animal than give it a chance in a less than ideal home. And lets not forget, that while the cats are with the cat shelter, they are sitting in a small cage, living a far from ideal life.

My sister was denied the chance to get a cat from her local cat shelter for some silly reason. She went to another cat shelter and got 2 kittens. This was 6+ years ago and both cats are healthy, today.

For those who have failed the RSPCA (or shelter) test, go to pets4homes. There are plenty of moggies available including kittens from unwanted litters. Basically the owners just want to get rid.

Playing with new lens today...

I managed to get a few photos of grumpy Neo, who does NOT like his photo taken with this camera... ;)

Both lovely looking cats.

The thing about MCs.. they grow and grow and grow, then just when you think they've finished growing, they grow some more.
