Anyone Using an Asus DSL-AC68U

Sounds about right for sky then. Pity it has capped you. What I liked about BE (when it was active) was that as soon as your line imrpoved you got your Max speed back.
Unfortunately DLM is a bit if a nuisance but I can see why it is there. Saves loads in unnecessary visits from BT or similar. With BT's DLM system they usually go back to normal speeds after a few days of problem free usage. Don't see why skys wouldn't. I didn't stay with them long enough to find out. My last two isps were bought over by them so jumped ship on activation days.

Did you do a lot of re-syncs over the past few days?

I did specifically ask if speeds will go back to normal after a few days if everything is stable but was told it's capped at 5MB/s and it wouldn't go higher, only lower.

I've had around 1 to 2 disconnections a day in the past few days perhaps a bit more the first day I've got the modem but last 2 days it's been pretty stable.

Does anyone know if it's possible to use 3rd party modem/router with BT Broadband?

Worse case I don't mind setting a static IP for BT modem and switch off DHCP...

Both times when I switched to sky after my isps being bought over, my throughput dropped by half. Changed providers again and back up to full speed.
Yes, you can use third party stuff with BT. The home hub isn't meant to be too great.

Cheers :) New experience to me so I'd have to research how to get the username + password to BT ;)

I've already disabled that. I've tried plugging the Sky modem back in just to test and it looks like I'm also getting around 5Mb/s :(

Anyone know what I can do? Years ago I used to be able to call and speak to Tier2/3 but nowadays it's very difficult. I think I should be able to achieve around 6.5 with my line?

I had issues with Sky ISP myself(was Bethere customer until Sky brought them out).

Short story had random disconnects/speed issues with Sky over the last year( last few months was the worst) before I ditched them and went with Plusnet which improved the stability and quality of my ADSL line.

Sky try and blame its your modem/router or something else, end of the day best advice I can give you is leave them and try a different ISP.

Very happy I ditched them.

Fully agree with this. Mirrors my experience and family members.
I believe the username is a common one for BT and the password field is left blank. Maybe that's for fiber though.

I'm having an odd error, I cannot get the DSL-AC68U to get an IP number from Sky FTTC, if I enable G.INP. It all works fine if I switch it off, and I'm sure I had it working on an earlier version of the FW, and I'm connected to a Huawei cabinet.

Any ideas?

Thanks. Been with Sky 10 years and they used to be very good with the tech support. If I call in the evenings I can speak with actual Tier2/Tier3 and not just "managers".

Let's hope I will get a better experience with BT.

What do you recommend I do when I get my modem? Do I leave that in or configure the ASUS to be the modem?

Anyone here with Asus DSL-AC68U and on BT ADSL?

edit: I'm also thinking about the dual WAN option. I can good EE 4G reception at my house so looking into deals. However 25GB/month seems to be the largest data allowance at the moment. My question is that is it possible to apply a cap on Dual WAN? If it exceeds 25GB just switch to land line? I think it is possible to setup so that certain IP address uses the WAN. From analysing traffic it looks like I average 8GB/day so I'll definitely need way more than 25GB a month.

Hello guys!

I have the asus DSL-AC68u with FTTC VDSL2 Italian operator.

I'm really happy with this modem, but I can't find any way to display info like "inp" and "delay"...

I know that via telnet the command cat /tmp/adsl/info_adsl.txt display some vdsl info... but no inp or delay.

So how do you display this information from this router?
There is another command from telnet? or with other utility?

Also I have noticed that a lot of people here change from intervealed to fastpath their vdsl connection and also change their inp and delay... how do you do that with dsl ac68u??

Thanks in advance

If your isp supports that features will display them at dsl stats page (added with latest 2-3 firmwares)
G.INP will be next of dsl modulation (line 5) to indicate is g.inp enabled
and interleave depth will appear at the 12th & 13th lines

Hello and thanks for your reply.

No my isp doesen't support g.inp at this time and I know that I'm intervealed (1203 down 111 up).

But i'm reffering to INP (not g.inp protocol) and DELAY settings... I can see that with Netgear D6400 but not with the asus.

In my case, from the Netgear telnet, using adslctl info --stats I have something like

INP [DMT symbols]: 3.00 1.00
Delay [ms]: 8.00 4.00

Now.. What I'm trying is to show this stats also on the Asus-ac68u... and other people in this forum can do this... also modifying it (but i think that this will not work for my isp)...

For the moment I only want to see this stats (but on the asus) and to try to contact the isp to change it to 0.00 - 0.00 for INP and Delay

Was a guy here, where he knew some settings to change them with a tool, & i think included the one you want (forced / overrides the local dslam) but never tried as i don't have vdsl ... if not appears soon to advise, his posts are way back in this thread
If i remember correct he also did read the stats you want via the debugging tool

How he can do such thing??

Hi Guys,

I am looking to replace my Sky SR102 Hub. I have Fibre Unlimited.

I was close to buying this router until I found this thread!

So I would like to ask; has newer firmware fixed most of the issues or is this a lost cause?

Another option is a tp-link VR200 / VR900. Would that be a better choice?

I would rather a combo modem + router than buying a modem on eBay but if you have a suggestion let me know.

Thanks!!

This unit is probably around 18 months old so I wouldn't be surprised if support starts dwindling in favour of their newer devices.
There is also the d7000 which is worth a look or the new Billion 8900 which is due for release in the coming weeks.

I just purchased one of these today as an upgrade from my old DSL-N55U for my Plusnet ADSL, setup was easy, firmware upgrade was done with no issues.

I was torn between the DSL-AC68U and Netgear D7000, but my last Netgear died after firmware upgrade(on first day) and new replacement lasted only three months...

My line has always been pretty stable, slight noise but nothing serious and not far from the exchange.

Guess I just leave it to settle in now and see how it goes :).

:)

So if my line is stable I should be ok with the DSL-AC68U?

I don't know the quality of my line, does this information help?
