Anyone Using an Asus DSL-AC68U

Carries on counting, I've had a disconnect around 30 mins ago but the counter is showing as online for 15hours+

I've dug out my original netgear Sky router and trying to configure it to use as internet source but somehow the router webpage keeps timing out lol :P

Do you have the ESNP (Extra Sudden Noise Protection) enabled? That fixed disconnections for me.

You can try PlumpMonkey's suggestion but looks like PPPoE not fails (disconnection) just fails the ip

see this thread, it may related to packet loss ... but it could be modem issue if finds packet loss, to loose ip

try the suggestion at post 4

at wan>internet connection>additional pppd settings & add the command
lcp-echo-interval 0 lcp-echo-failure 0

You can replace it with (where numbers) 10/100, or 30/10 etc but 0/0 worked for most

My settings for Fibre PlusNet Connection:

Constant error:

set manually
dsl modulation = vdsl2
set annex = to B & if not connect try B/J or A
disable DLA (3rd setting)

Yeah, CRC errors sitting at 56 currently after plenty of uptime, when I first got the device I had thousands up thousands.

Ok, I'll lug mine up over the weekend. I have an engineer coming to check out my line tomorrow as I have drop outs on this HH5, bit of noise on the line, around over 9db for sound and few other probs... I should be getting 50-75mbps, I've had 40mbps for about 20 mins then I was actually downloading at 678 BYTES/sec last night lol.

After the BT engineer arrives and tried to blame me I'll plug up the Asus.

Thank you but still doesn't work

what firmware using? because from your previous screenshot (up) you must using a very old firmware

Download & install from link below with the latest firmware (_9212) i guess you have the dsl68u
Then perform a reset via the back hardware button by holding it about 4-6 seconds
& try again the settings i mentioned (remember to take out phone cable till update & setup done, because modem will keep rebooting so will effect your line)

DSL-N66U just got enabled for fiber for the father in law.... I have a ECI on standby ;)

Lasted just over a day before he started to complain, apparently it's gone from 35/12 (yes I know that's not happening on a 40/10 profile) to 2/6 which doesn't sound much more likely. Sadly unlike the AC68 the N66U hasn't been graced with a new bios since November and it'll be the w/e before I can investigate.

Thanks. Just gave that a go. Below is screenshot of current DSL log,
Tried Sky modem and it looks like my line download speed has been reduced to 5Mb/s :( I was getting 7 before...

according to snr target 12,5 ... maybe the cabinet DLM kick in ... or if you have enable the DLA (3rd line at DSL settings) at Asus if find too many errors or disconnection may kicked in as well
Disable the DLA at modem so will not have 2 systems monitoring the line

I've already disabled that. I've tried plugging the Sky modem back in just to test and it looks like I'm also getting around 5Mb/s :(

Anyone know what I can do? Years ago I used to be able to call and speak to Tier2/3 but nowadays it's very difficult. I think I should be able to achieve around 6.5 with my line?

If you don't have a line issue, I would leave the sky router on for a while and see if the speed recovers.

Hmm, when I used Netgear the speed was fine though. Has using this Asus caused my line speed to be capped?

Edit: Finally got through Sky Broadband support at a premium number and after lengthy conversation it looks like they've capped my speeds due to instability (disconnects). I'm trying to get them to uncap it but at the moment it's either sending new modem (as I've mentioned current one is dodgy) or the line will remain on DLM :(
Edit 2: Went through the whole testing procedure with ASUS plugged in (with MAC clone) and they haven't clocked that... said everything is fine perhaps that's my best speed or a new modem is required.

Well got a call back and gone through all the test and was told all they can do it update me to the latest modem (mine is around 5 years old).

Great, but I need to pay £70! Obviously disappointed then after few moments that's reduced to £30 (???).

Anyway it looks like my line was capped because of instabilities and it would not be possible to remove the cap as it's fully automated. I guess after 10 years with Sky Broadband it's time to shop around.

I've also asked if the DLM will increase my speeds after few days if it stabilises but was told no chance, it will either go further down or stay at 5 max :(

edit: below are my Asus stats:

Sounds about right for sky then. Pity it has capped you. What I liked about BE (when it was active) was that as soon as your line imrpoved you got your Max speed back.
Unfortunately DLM is a bit if a nuisance but I can see why it is there. Saves loads in unnecessary visits from BT or similar. With BT's DLM system they usually go back to normal speeds after a few days of problem free usage. Don't see why skys wouldn't. I didn't stay with them long enough to find out. My last two isps were bought over by them so jumped ship on activation days.

Did you do a lot of re-syncs over the past few days?

Well called BT Broadband to have a chat and as I already have BT Sport + BT Landline with them I've gone for BT Broadband Unlimited. It most probably will be around same speed but at least I save some £££. New modem/router is £7 but biggest bonus for me is access to the nationwide BT WiFi network!
