The Division. Are we interested?

I find it odd that people are willing to buy beta codes in the first place.
I kinda see your point.
However, for those who do not wish to take part in the "Beta Lottery", spending a quid to find out if a game is any good aint a bum deal.

What I do find odd, is how we never get demos any more.

Are they drip feeding the EVGA Experience codes? I've signed up and already bought a Beta key but if I get one through Experience then I'll pop it on here.

I believe they were randomly sent out. Supposedly they might do another batch this week.

Back in the day I used to buy PC mags just for the demo cd :D So technically depending on how many demo's / betas were on that disc I was paying about a buck each.

Is it just me that remembers when companies gave away beta keys so that potential customers could help them build a better game by donating their own time for nothing? And as part of the marketing to create a buzz and let customers know what they game was like before release?

Now we have customers so taken by the hype that they are willing to pay and give their time in order to give a rich multinational an extra profit on their pre-release testing.

No wonder publishers keep churning out unfinished and cut-down games, when customers will bend over and take this kind of nonsense and pay for it too.

Don't worry within 5 years all AAA game betas and alphas will be closed and only available in schemes like EA Access. ;)

The beauty of having Grandparents who ran a greengrocers/newsagents/off-licence was I could get all the demos for free without having to pay a penny.

I don't know exactly how the Steam integration works, I thought a post somewhere said it's bascially importing your Steam friends list? I think you'll need people on your UPlay friends list for the in-game group invite stuff to work.

I would stick with the in-game voice comms btw, quality is good and proximity chat = win. The voice activation was a little dodgy but I am using a crap webcam mic, PTT worked great.

I'll be on all weekend, although might try PS4 for a while.

Deffo give the prox chat a spin some time, really adds to the game. There was a bunch of guys from HQ that were non-stop Rogue last time, if you heard any French you knew to get ready for a firefight :)
