Project: shut up and be quiet!

well, I got distracted by pizza :D but I had a crack at it with showing screws... tbh I prefer this a lot more. Given the time I would like to do what orbitalwalsh says and get orange screws, but I just don't think it will be possible in the time frame...

Ok, it needs a little dust removal lol

A quick test fit:

not sure if they do Plastidip in orange. i know that would be an extremely quick/lazy way of masking area off and giving it a shot when its out of the case and a quick tidy around the edges?
Not an perfect way but quick and easy

Looks good to me. Clearly it's modding day today. ...I forgot just how much I hate drilling rivets!

decent drill and a HSS 3mm bit and they fly out! :D

Those memory modules are crying out for just a flash of orange on them! Looks great so far.

thanks dude, I am just making some new logos for them, but I am struggling get the size correct :D they are either too short and the right hight, or the right length but the letters are too big hmmm, I will work it out in the end though!

I actually have some plastidip, in orange, but I don't think I will be able to get the right results tbh, i think plasti is a little bit too thick to get a good result on a screw head :/

You really are quite a legend David.

Thanks Paul, it has to be beer time soon doesn't it!?

You mean, decent drill, decent 3mm HSS bit and it all looks good for a bit and then spins round and round doing the rivet equivalent of "Neh! :-P" :D
Got them out by drilling at a slight angle. Now, so far I have effectively achieved.....a broken case :D

hmmm, if they are slipping, it is usually down to the drill bit going blunt...

A better picture of the block, it shows a little air bubble, so I have just sorted that out lol

Looking great so far! That is a very nice mobo block :). Black and orange on this build looks great.

And yes if the drill is spinning, it's blunt. Or the rivets gone hard. It's quite easy to re-sharpen them if you have the tools. Steel rivets are a pain and can take some drilling. Took me some doing on a few parts for my case.

Well, I thought I would do something about the silver/white on the RAM. So, I went looking online for the font or the logo that HyperX used and couldn't find it. So, I figured I would have to sort something out instead.

So, I took a picture of the ram moduale.

And then traced the picture as best as I could in photoshop. I then chucked the traced image into my vinyl cutting software and gave it ago. These are the pictures from my frst attempt, they seemed fine until I put the pictures on my computer and I could see the horrible silver around the edges -.-

I had to do each letter..

... I thought I was doing well, but as always, I checked my camera to see how it looked on there as the pictures really do show up any little issues, and they looked horrible =(

IMG_0747.jpg

So, I spend a hour or two tweaking each letter so that they were fatter in places, or longer, shorter etc etc etc and ended up with this <3

They now look like they belong into the motherboard!

This took me far longer than I expected, but I am glad that I went from the first few pictures that were failing me, to the point of the last pictures!

To give you some idea of how long this took, here is half of the sheet worth of stickers lol It took forever to get the "P" right.

Wow, I take my eye of this build log for a few days and when I come back it has progressed in leaps and bounds :). It looks great, the orange pops out and it's not overpowering (A good thing). Also, sublime attention to detail with the writing on the memory (It must be a killer for OCD :D).

As always great work and it's making me very jealous :D

Top work, this build is looking proper classy and loving the OCD attention to detail, those letters would have killed me! Or the RAM, might possibly have launched it through the nearest window :D Oh yes, and the block looks a lot better with the screw heads showing through, just adds a bit of interest to it :)

Love this build, good job man

Thank you Zack! :D

damnnn that's stylish. Nice work!

Cheers bro, took a while, but I like it!

Thanks man, yeah, the dimms were a pain in the arse, especially as you could hardly tell with the naked eye that anything was wrong, but when a photo was taken it was painfully obvious! I am happy with them now though :D

haha, tell me about it, luckily I had beer and a game of CS half way through so I kept on trucking! Cheers buddy.

Very quick update as I had half an hour before I had to leave my house, I grabbed be quiet! late last night (yeah, my sponsors never sleep when I can FB message them :D) and asked for the font they used for the PSU's.

So, this morning I made this:

Considering I hate vinyl, I really do, I am doing ok this time! Usually I just lose my temper with it but *so far* I have managed to keep my calm and get what I think are alright results! :D

...luckily I had beer...

You don't think these two things are connected?! :p

Like the results. It's only a small thing but it does tie it in nicely.
