Project: shut up and be quiet!

Thanks guys! I am a bit stuck now though as I have to work 2 extra night shifts... So it means I am now working away from home for 5x12hr night shifts, 1 off, then 3 x 12 hr day shifts... Basically means I cant even go home for 9 days =( then I will have a few days and it is iSeries I believe!!!

So, next job will be to make all the cables, and get those sorted and then actually get some kind of cooling loop installed.
I think after ISeries I will probably go back to this build to change it a little as I do have am idea but just wont have the time to sort it before hand.

Another quick update for you lovelly folks!

My friends at Mayhems sent me a nice parcel, as always they send everything I need to ensure my fluid looks exactly how I want it. I will need about 1.5 litres of fluid every time I fill the loop, but because Mick knows I am an idiot, he makes sure I have plenty :D

hmmmmm Orange juice!

IMG_0779.jpg

As Mayhems had already seen the colour I was aiming for, they knew that it would be a little lighter than my vinyl, which is why they sent so many dyes too :D It is almost there so I shouldn't need too much of the dye, but we never know!

After a little while, I managed to get this colour.

This is as bout as close as I dare to take it, I am not the best at colour matching, and I do not want to add too much dye and make it too dark lol.

I think it will be fine like this, what do you guys reckon?

Looks pretty bang on from here! Mayhems must have thought you were going to dye the whole town ginger the amount of orange they sent you :D

One question though from a noob who's never used hardline tubing or even clear soft tubing; does the tubing alter the colour of the fluid at all? I did see a comparison of soft tubing where some had a slight blue tint & some a slight yellow, but guessing with hardline you don't have those problems?

You are right, with some tubing you do get a little tint of colour from the tube, but when using bright colours you usually can't tell and as you mention, with hardline tubing it is pretty much un heard of. Glass tubing seems to be the clearest but PETG and acrylic are just as good for us noobs :D

Such a lovely colour!

Thanks bro :D

I should have some kind of update today! not sure what yet though haha :D

I like the look of that coolant and it appears that you have perfectly matched the shade and tone of the coolant to the vinyl you are using. :)

I can't wait to see it in the system (The glass is misleading as I can't/shouldn't drink it) :D

I have a weak spot for orange in builds. Maybe it's being ginger I feel like I partial rep the orange look haha :D

I wonder if I was ginger in a previous life?!

another awesome build mate. looking forward to seeing it finished

Thanks dude, I am not sure what else I am going to have time for, but I will no doubt think of something!

Thanks dude, yeah, the big problem with Mayhems coolants is that you want to drink them, but can't. Trust me when I say they taste foul!

So, this is what I spent all night doing, I can't wait to go to bed *yawn*

As always I like to either make my own extensions or make a new set of modular cables, so it was time for me to get out my box of goodies.

IMG_0850.jpg

The first thing I made was the 24 pin ATX. This is actually 23 pins one end and 28 pins the other, so I knew I was gonna be in for a few double wires.

IMG_0851.jpg

The first job was to measure and cut the wire (notice I use white and black wire, the white for the orange and the black for the black, this means any cable bleed won't matter :) )

IMG_0852.jpg

Then crimp on the new terminals.

IMG_0853.jpg

Then sleeve all the wires, and grab a new 24 pin connector and a 20 + 8 pin connector for the PSU end

IMG_0872.jpg

I needed to make 5 double wires in the end and I also made a dummy wire for the missing pin on the 24 pin connector

IMG_0875.jpg

Once I had put them all into the connectors, we ended up with this:

IMG_0878.jpg

Once I had done these, it was only around 3 AM, so I thought I would do the GPU, kinda forgetting that the GPU has another 24 cables...grrrr

I just did exactly the same as before, 3 double wires this time (one for each connector) and ended up with this:

IMG_0879.jpg

I won't be plugging in the 24 pin motherboard cable yet, but the GPU cable is in, not bad IMO:

So, that is it for a little while, I am back at work now for another 3 nights =( once I do get back it will be 4 days until I have to take the rig to I57 :D. I know I know, it is unusual for me to leave things until the last minute!

Those cables look great, always like the look of custom cables as they make builds look so much better :). They'll pair brilliantly with the colour of the coolant and the accents of the case.

Can't wait to see them fitted, keep the updates rolling :)

Thanks dude, just a very quick update here now but a bigger one tomorrow with how I did it and the finished articles.

Dude, that's an awesome build. Love the attention to detail :)

Thanks bro, a bit more detail for you haha.

I was just watching the Englad Rugby match whilst playing around with the SSDs, this is my first attempt at the first one, I rather like it!

I think I will add the "Savage" text in orange and then do the same to the other one tomorrow :D I will then do a proper post on doing them :)

Damn, you must be pretty good at multitasking to watch sport and still have such a good finished product for the SSD. Are you sure there was no sorcery involved as I'm pretty sure you're a wizard from what I've seen on your other projects :D

Still, as long as it results in more updates I'm happy :)

Wow wow woogah dave,

Not been on here for a while I come back and see this an some of your other builds an must say your doing a stellar job man keep it up mate!

Thanks guys :)

Well, I had to do my usual "rush to get things looking like they are done" bit last night so that OcUK could make a leaflet for when it is on their stand.

Although they did miss out HyperX off my sponsor list, it was a little rushed as I was only able to send them the pictures and stuff this morning, so very that they have spent the time making this for me! Everyone makes mistakes, and everyone knows I love HyperX anyways hehe :D Huge thanks to OcUK for making this for me and allowing me to put my stuff on their stand :D

So, if you want to come see the build in its flesh, pop to the OcUK stand at I57 at the NEC this weekend. It will be on display for the entire event and I shouldn't be far from it most of the time (if I'm not at the OcUK stand, I am probably at the closest bar!)
