GTX 1070 - any takers?

Insane prices indeed. Time to put on a stern face and say, "I'm out". At least for now, perhaps prices might drop eventually, but I'm not in the queue for the milking sheds :)

There's a heavily overclocked one on another site :

"Color Black
Processor Speed 1683 GHz
Processor Count 1
RAM Size 8 GB
Hard Drive Size 8 GB
Graphics Coprocessor Nvidia
Graphics Card Description Asus Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070
Graphics RAM Type GDDR5
Graphics Card Ram Size 8 MB"

Shame it only comes with 8MB of VRAM though.

LOL you could not make this up...

Asus's twitter feed just now:

Wallet-friendly :D :D :D

Hahahah Asus, you funny guy... I kill you last.

LMFAO prices for what the 1070's have to offer, typical of the retailers gauging the market whilst stocks are low and knowing they will sell out. Still find it weird the UK pays premium for parts when they no doubt are coming straight from China. It is what it is I guess, same as always.

Will wait and see what happens to the prices in a month or two and maybe even swap to AMD rx480 for he short term depending on the benchmarks, that or go for a second hand 980ti seeing as the prices on those have dropped somewhat.

Lols on the ASUS tax, bless them.

Yes, you are a horrible person and you should feel really bad. :D

Jealous you've got the disposable income tbh! I have to wait it out for the rx 480. Hope it delivers.

I can't understand the mentality myself heh :| I've no shortage of disposable income but I couldn't just throw it around like that - it is basically the GTX460 for the Pascal generation which even allowing for inflation and a bit extra due to 16nm being more expensive to produce would come in a lot cheaper.

People are saying they will wait for the AMD but isn't the last lot of AMD drivers totally gash? Not wanting to derail the thread but i don't want to wait all this time to save £100 but have hassle with drivers for the next year etc.

Who says it replaces the 970? It's just a number. You need to look at the performance of the cards to make a judgement on that. Having seen all the benchmarks I think 1070 is not occupying the space in the range that 970 did.

So this would mean the 1060 is to replace the 970 surly not
i thought for years 60 70 80 & ti on next gen means that to replace it the previous ....

Nearly spat my tea out looking at these 1070 prices.

The hell are they thinking? Used 980Ti is an absolute bargain compared to this.

I dunno about that, 980ti owners tend to want to sell for ~£330 ish currently. I would probably still go brand new 1070 for full warranty for £400.

A good brand OCed 980ti for £300 would be considered a decent deal and would sway me.

Anyone notice the absence of any comment from DP?

Also I just had a look at the KFA Kruger card and at a glance it looks like the card was VRFreddy and not VRReady.

Must say that this thread has been incredibly entertaining today and the unfortunate result of all this is that we are now reaping what we have sowed for the last few years....

Nvidia think that all of us are sheep...isnt it time we put a stop to this and stopped buying at these crazy prices. As someone has said before we will all be on consoles this time next year if this keeps up.

If this isnt the perfect time for AMD to come good then what is?

The mighty always fall because they get complacent and push too far. That time has come and if we carry on then PC gaming WILL die a death. No doubt about it.

what? have you been hiding under a rock for the past year? AMD Drivers have not been bad for a few years, Xfire support has been horribad, but single card support has been sublime for the most part for a number of years.

Its tosh like this that makes me laugh when people think of AMD, they USED to be bad, infact i'd say Nvidia have had more driver issues than AMD lately.

Ohh i see another launch of Nvidia cards where 99% of them are "Pre-Order" or "Out of Stock" yet Nvidia had bucketloads to sell right off... right D.P?? Right??? ;)

That doesn't really indicated what the supply and demand levels were like though - they could have had 10,000 cards and 20,000 people ordering or 100 cards and 200 people ordering etc.

Not true is the easy answer. You are hearing mythical nonsense and assuming it's a fact.

Both Nvidia and AMD drivers work perfectly fine for single GPU users.
