So guys, get back from Ireland tonight and should have chance having a play with the 480 Nitro tomorrow.

Just wondering if there is any overhead for some overclocking?? What are people getting?

I was tempted by the 8gb, but after seeing reviews and benchmarks I went for the 4gb for just over £200 elsewhere. I do only game at 1080p so 4gb is plenty for me...maybe save a little cash and go that way?

As per the Heaven benchmark thread I have done a few tweaks with CPU and GPU and went from:

This was the CPU reduced to 4.72ghz to help with stability issues & Standard Nitro Clock Speeds.

Then overclocked the Nitro to 1365 / 2000 and got some very nice boosts, especially in the minimum fps:

Tried overclocking the memory to 2100 but system crashed.

I did seriously consider the 4GB but my 7970 has 3GB and I don't upgrade often (the last brand new card I bought was an 8800GT) so wanted to future proof myself as much as I could. It's also partly a Christmas present with me putting a little money towards so not such a big shock to my wallet

Dave/Overlag, I looked around a couple of other places and while OcUK were one of the more expensive, I couldn't find it any cheaper than it presently is on here.

the 4gb should be fine for 1080p gaming...I guess if you plan on buying a 1440p or 4k monitor in the future then the extra GB will come in handy...then again questionable as to whether the card is powerful enough for anything above 1080p.

Disagree, even at 1080P games are using 4GB or more, today. It will only get worse over time.

I could boil an egg on the back-plates of my MSI gamingXs. Top card is hitting 81c, bottom 75c... with the front of my case off, 2x140mm intake fans, the side of my case open and a full PCI slot of space between the cards, even then, the top card is still struggling to hold 1303mhz

This is with -48mv and a +50% power limit, is this expected behaviour as they where quoting temps in the 60s on reviews

Fan speeds are automatic but top card hits 80% and bottom 39%

This is while using 3Dmarks stability test, which I can only pass with the above case and config layout.

The only cards that are in the high ~50c and low ~60c are the XFX GTR XXXs (running 95w-105w) confirmed by JayzTwoCent and a friend of mine that has a big mining operation.

All other reviews I've seen from reference RX480s to the MSI Gaming are over 73c unless under water or on AIO.

I can confirm temps tomorrow as Im receiving my 4x XFX RX480 GTR XXX from DHL.

Friend mining Ethereum on 4x XFX RX480 (non GTR)

Note: Are you running Crimson 16.7.1 or higher ? I've read that these sort out the wattage problems that were affecting users earlier on.

I'm having issues with gfx drivers, reinstalling some windows files and I'll try and get crimson on again when that's done, I do have the most recent drivers though, I just don't have the interface or any options available to me.

J2C has the only example of a card running like that, saw your mates miner posted before but he only seems to be running 1100mhz

On BF1, I've switched to DX11 for now with my 480 4GB and it's stopped stuttering on ultra.

Interesting, will have to give this a go. Wonder if it is a bug as turning down to high doesn't fix on dx12.
