dagwoood said:O.k, some other anomalies I've noticed and wandered whether they were normal for this board.
If I use a utility that accesses the sensors, i.e.Speedfan or Everest, they will sometimes hang and I get the XP error message that the program isn't responding. This problem seems to go away if I set my memory to T2. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Also, when I was trying to cure my Aquamark problem, I changed my BIOS from v1.2 to the official v1.5. I've since changed it back to v1.2, but I wandered what BIOS version, official or otherwise, is classed as the most stable?
I obviously want my system stable before I start to o/c my CPU and sometimes, especially if I'm restarting my system after being in dos(to use Acronis TI), my system wont post(seem familiar) and just hangs and I have to do a hard restart.
Cheers, dagwoood.
hooneeawr said:A question before I setup this new kit. Should I use the SATA2 port or not? I only have a SATA1 drive (WD3000JD) but which port performs better?
ns400r said:T1 with my Ballistix memory causes all sorts of problems. T2 is stable all the way though and is only slightly slower considering that T1 crashes all the time ! ! !
My findings are that v1.50 is by far the most stable for my setup, sure I lose the ability to go over 274Mhz but when set to 274Mhz and the memory @ 1:1 it's rock solid.
Oh yeah, Speedfan doesn't fully spoort the board and sensors yet, it's being worked on though. Even on my stable system Speedfan sometimes gets a little confused and seems to keep trying to do something resulting in about 10% CPU usage at times.

how is the htl speed calculated and how do i change it in the asrock bios settings
currently it appears to 270x4=1080mhz (i.e. a x4 multiplier)- i have read it should not be over 1000mhz
what is the htt multiplier setting? because i think i need to lower it to stay stable - 275x10 is unstable for me and the htl speed is 1100mhz
currently 270x10=2700mhz memory 5/6 divider @ 225mhz vcore 1.55v
ns400r said:Well done. See, ignore the doom merchants. I reckon that 2.2Ghz will be easy to obtain and 2.4Ghz shouldn't be too much of a problem either.
I'd be interested in the dual boot to XP64 as I'm toying with the idea myself.
Let me know how you get on.
InSanCen said:Anyone used this with a TT Sonic Tower? Got my board here, trying to fit the Sonic Tower, but it has no backplate? WTF??? I can't biuld my rig, as the screws have nothing to screw into. It has a "Retention Module" but the screws go down the holes, and into thin air...
unless I'm missing something totlly obvious, is the board missing a part???
ns400r said:How much of that stuff in the picture is missing?
InSanCen said:None of it.
The manual says that you should put the screws into the retention moule, and they will screw into the backplate. I'm using the alternative method, as Asrock is ASUS. When you torn the board over, the screws are poking out, but nothing to screw them into...
am I missing something... can't see the wood for the trees? Has anyone managed to get the Sonic Tower and this board to play nice?
