During my bike ride at Cannock Chase on Sunday I stumbled upon a Leisure Lakes demo session. Some awesome bikes there, mostly Downhill and All Mountain stuff - Scott Ransom etc

Anyway, I managed to get a 15 min test on this - 2007 Specialized S Works Enduro SL The only problem now is that I want one :(

looks quite nice, but never understood why theyd make triple clamps on an xc type bike, yeah they are prob still very light but why them over single crowns on that kinda bike

It's an All Mountain Bike, my riding partner has ordered one today, £3400 all in, with £750 trade in on his current Intense Tracer.

A riding mate just had those cranks fitted to his sx trail. :( Not fair.

How was the brakes on it?

I'm thinking about buying some Maveric DUC32 forks cheep from a pal for my Heckler. 3.5lbs for a 6" travel fork.

but would you need 6" travel, and at only 3.5lbs are they likely to be strong enough to stand up to the abuse to warrant a 6" travel fork :p

Not really a fan of the enduro myself, much prefer the sx trail.

Talking of specialized,i sold a guy a rockhopper at £950...the one with juicy 3s etc. Second day out on it he got hit with a motorbike and got slapped with £200 worth of damage. He wasnt very happy tbh. :(

The design is like straight off my Giant Trance !
At a glance most bike designs look similar but on closer inspection they are very much different. For example, the Enduro has a shaped curved down tube and FSR linkage.

You don't need suspension at all, but it does make things a lot easier. :p

Really depends on the riding you do. A couple of years ago 4" was normal but 5" and now 6" is becoming ever more common for Trail / XC / AM bikes.

Good point on the strength of the Maveric forks, with my track record I should really stay clear of them. :o

Hmm thought I'd add my old beast, click for larger image :D

1998 Kona Lavadome
Now it's not that standard:
Replaced pedals (spd 515 iirc)
Replaced front forks (mazocchi Z2 BAM Light)
Replaced wheels (Hope Ti hubs, Mavic 517 rims, Ti spokes)
Toiga Factory XC (kevlar weave)
Replaced crank (XT Hollowtech II)
Replaced front derailier (XT)
Replaced rear derailier (XT)
Replaced rear cassette (XT)
Replaced shifters (XT - reverse shift)
Replaced Seat (MTB)
Replaced Seat post (kona Alu)

The only original bits are frame, handlebars, brakes and brake levers.

If you look carefully you'll still see the slight bend in the frame upright from the landing that broke the seat and the steel seat post!

Retro as ****. How light is it?

Hehe lighter that a lot of alu frames.

The heavy parts are the frame (steel chromo double butted - good for absorbing the shocks on long rides) and shocks (oil bath). Infact the shocks on the front actually make it drop nose heavy. Good for riding up no so good for dropoffs.

Another month? For a Nomad? I got the last black Ano Jungle had in stock, but a pal got another Black Ano soon after through the same shop. :s I hear the UK shipment of SL's are 1 week behind schedule....again.

Weescott, that looks veeery nice mate. Quite an attacking riding position by the looks of things, bet it's a lot of fun in the woods (you *******).
