Download Enemy Territory: Quake Wars - Beta Client , to fileplanet subscribers

Well maybe I'm weird - but I think the graphics on BF2 are much better! Those highres screenshots don't really convince me otherwise. The only thing that looks better is the view distance - which is admittedly very poor on BF2

Been playing it for a while, this game seems to have so much potential but ultimately the infantry combat is annoying.

The game has no stamina and infinite sprint, you can also hop around as much as you like so you can guess how farsical the infantry combat looks, its more of a game of who can hop about like a tool and get a few lucky hits in than anything. Imo the infantry combat also feels a bit "floaty" as well.

For some ultimately retarded reason any armoured vehicle gets affected by almost every weapon, if theres a tank driving by you can shoot it with a pistol or smg and it does damage, the damage a smg does is pretty extensive considering its firing bullets, about 2 magazines laid into a titan tank can drain maybe a quarter of its health bar. Same thing for the strogg walker etc.

The vehicles are pretty ok in the way they handle, theyre not really what i would call battlefield like. You can knock wheels off apc's etc to disable their movement..at least when you're just messing around in spawn, in game as of yet ive yet to see any vehicle get its mobility disabled, people just seem to go for the kill.

The one feature i really like about the game is the anti personnel\ anti air\ anti vehicle structures. Initially they can only be around your base but when you take over other parts of the map you can plonk them further afield. Its something new to this kind of game and something that obviously battlefield has never had. Theyre totally self automated so no need for someone to sit in one for 15 mins guarding an area.

I think its a good idea that tanks can take dmg from ordinary weapons, how many times in bf2 or bf2142 have you played as a medic only for a tank to appear and blow you to smitherens, of course its not very realistic but hey anything to make being a groundpounder better. I know as soon as i get my beta key i will be taking out the wheels of vechiels so i can kill the driver when they jump out, repair the vechiel (if you can) and go and kill his team mates :D

It's called quake wars? So, why wouldn't you expect some similiarity in the gameplay to that of quake? It basically makes it differnent type of play from similar MP games out there.

It's Enemy Territory not Quake, Quake Wars is just the theme ie. not WW2-based like the last two games.

I have never liked Quake multiplayer, absolutely loved RTCW/ET though.

Just played it...it's quite easy to pick up, went easy on my system (8800gtx, 2gb) at 1680. Everything seemed a bit frantic for my tastes, but that could be down to both the map and my unfamiliarity with the game. And yes, everyone was jumping around like idiots. Still, when in rome...

I would love to know what any die-hard ET fans (liek me) thinks of this? I'm hoping it will be good, but not convinced the vehicles will add much (not a Battlefield fan).

this is the **** im presented with as soon as I click deploy.

So how do u reserve the beta or get the beta key ? my beta key list shows only the demo reserve key, which as said above is to short.

BETA is currently out to a small group of NEW annual fileplanet subscribers, the beta will then be released tommorow to ALL subscribers for 3 days, after that 30,000 free keys will be released to free fileplanet members. Obviously you pay your way you get it first.

I dont think ive ever has as many lockups\blue screen crashes in my life. last lot of hours have been a nightmare in ths respect. Nothing overclocked but the app witll either play fine, play then then lockup with repeating audio which requires a hard reset, give me an error which closes it or crash to a blue screen memory dump.
