Download Enemy Territory: Quake Wars - Beta Client , to fileplanet subscribers

Not sure, the vechiel controls are better in the bf series and the guns seem a bit arcadey compaired to bf 2142, maybe its just the sounds

But its running fine on my machine at 60fps at 1280x1024, although i think my 12ms on my tft is finally rearing its head. :(

Finally got it........its crap.

Well its ok, i headshotted someone i recognise, maybe off here, but she was on my team, oops!

It looks like quake 2 but with vivid colours tbh.

Not realistic, sort of 3dfx Voodoo 2 graphics :(

The weapons sounds do need work, some sound really crappy, especially the gdf regular rifle.

Vehicles also need some tweaking, the titan tank for one needs some adjustment, just feels to fast and light or something.

I didnt have sound on as its early and dont wanna wake people up.

But i got in the walker and walked to the far end of the map (where people normally wont play) and trees were trying to move in the wind but it wasnt working right.

I havent forgotten its a beta, so not sure what to expect.

It ran flawlessly though, atleast 100fps if not more, is there a console command for an fps test like there was in quake 3 ? I had all the settings on max at a stupid resolution (my monitor has issues).

A brief first impression from a BF2142 player: The gameplay is very Quake in that it has no restrictions on sprinting or jumping so you can expect bunny hopping to an extreme, something that I have already experienced and grown to dislike.

The Beta has only the one map. You have to secure parts of the map so that you can eventually storm the Strogg base so really it's not that far removed from having to capture silos or flags to eventually capture the main base - kinda Northern Strike styles.

Vehicles feel ruddy awful to drive after 2142 but again that will likely change with a bit more play. So far I have only played on the GDF side with their vehicles and that has consisted of a 4x4 bike, Jeeps, an APC (like from BF2) and a tank. Handling wise they are kinda similar to BF2 but somewhat less responsive. The models look pretty ugly and the tanks canon just isn't big enough Feedback from shooting the weapons doesn't feel nearly as satisfying.

Vehicle destruction is disappointing with a crappy bang with nasty huge individual parts collapsing in a heap. Take out a Strogg walker and it falls into a torso, two legs and some shoulder weapons.

It's really hard to tell if it is just a Beta testing situation so they have stripped it down and reduced the effects to make for a smaller download, but IMO it wouldn't be the smartest thing to do especially when you're trying to draw in customers.

So... not massively impressed by it and from a visual and gameplay perspective I really think that 2142 and BF2 have it beat, but then I was never a Quake fan so I may be (am) coming from a biased opinion but I think I can justify it because many of you will be coming from exactly the same angle.

I'll see if I can have a bit more of a play tonight and get more of a feel for the different troop units but I really think it's going to take some getting used to.

I've been playing it on my sigs specs at 1680x1050 everything at max and it runs smooth as.
