*** The OS X Post Your Desktop Thread ***

You know, the funny thing is that you cannot, as far as I can see, simply pick a custom solid colour for the desktop to be in OS X (!)

Ended up saving an image and tiling it.

Copy the Solid Gray png file from your Library/Desktop Pictures folder and photo edit it to black. Save it back in that directory as Solid Black and it will appear in Solid Colours. Works perfectly.

Currently I am experimenting with minimalist goodness but using Menushade to hide the Menubar, hide Dock option, hide Disks on the Desktop and a solid black background. Nothing but a cursor and, as another experiment, Quicksilver again.

Yeah - I just made a solid black square and put it in the wallpaper folder. Still, to have the only choices for plain colour backgrounds hard-coded as image files rather than simply a value from a colour picker is shockingly convoluted :)

I've been spending more time on my iBook since my iMac is broken so I decided to jazz it up a little.
