Just recieved PC Zone magazine today, bioshock received 96%, rated higher than System shock 2 & Dues Ex. :)

posted this in the console section but just as relevent here.

The review summary for the PC version of BIOSHOCK, as reviewed in PCZONE UK.

Graphics: Looks like an art-deco city under the water should
Sound: Atmospheric, from the old-fashioned soundtrack to the superb dialogue
Multiplayer: None - you're all alone down there

The Good:

* Captivating, well-told story
* Movie quality voice-acting and script
* Emergent combat allows for huge variation in tactics
* The soundtrack, the locations, the visuals
* The many, many Plasmids and the brilliant final levels

The Bad:

* At one point it ends

OVERALL SCORE: 96/100

If it matters, the mighty Half-Life 2 (the highest rated game in the mag) was rated 97/100.

Wow, looking very good, but this looks way better than Half Life 2, HL2 was a 63/100 at the most.

Just like with Halo, the first one is usually the pinnacle of the series, 63/100 is a bit harsh though, its a solid shooter with amazing enviroments and story.

Everyones got an opinion thought i guess, i thought apart from graphics and the engine, the rest was pretty rubbish, including the story.

Im in a bit of a Dilema, i currently have a 7300gt graphics card and want to upgrade it to play "good" games on a high/reasonable high setting with a resolution of 1680x1050.

my e6420 @ 3.4, rest is in my sig, what card would be recommended to play bioshock on a nice quality setting, im not to bothered about DX10 yet unless it agraphics card can play it with 30+fps constantly.

im getting a bit bored of playing no games which is what i bought my new pc for,
i would say atm budget is £250. i know its not on the topic but really i would like to see if their is anyone who could link a benchmarking test of some sort.

Never been able to play any SP for more than 5 mins since hl2, I'm always expecting too much, kinda wish I never met that Gorden Freeman bloke now :(

Fingers crossed this is as good.

Leadtek 640mb for£230inc at OCUK.

320mb one will not be enough for Bioshock at 1680*1050/

Just saw the bioshock e3 vid in the first post, looks amazing but is that all you do, fight in it? What's the story, do you have to fight? Can you just walk about and talk to ppl like in a rpg or adventure game which i think its supose to be a hybrid of rpg/fps or somit yeah? Is it a open ended game? As from what i have seen all you do is mess about with tricks with the weapons.

PC Gamer was running at 1600x900 or something and they said it was hitchlessly smooth on their Athlon X2 5200+/2GB Ram/"Entry Level" 8800 (Assuming that's a 320MB one)

Supposedly it works better on Dual Core processors but worse on Quad Core =\
Doubt it, probably works around the same, I bet clock speed is more important than having 2 or 4 cores for this game.
