Chromecast now available in the UK!

Was waiting for this today. Ordered from Play Store now :)

Edit: Says its dispatched from warehouse on 20th. However the order date is 18th (yesterday) so I guess they use US time for all orders. I am hoping to get it for Friday as this is my day off.

I've just ordered from the playstore myself, mine says dispatched on the 21st. I presume they mean it's going to ship on the 21st...

I see it's cheaper on eBay and has been available for a while, is it the best streaming stick/casting option for under £50?

I got one from the US, highly recommend it. Plex is now out on it and works fantastically and also Beyondpod I use a lot as well. More and more apps have been appearing each week lately.

Guys without sounding thick, do i have to have android to use this? I mean will i be able to stream films say of my Mac Mini which is under the TV to this in the bedroom?

Edit: Saw the plex post ;) - Guessing i can.

I've only just learnt that you can mirror your Chrome browser (or ChromeOS) to your TV..? This makes it way better. I thought it was just for specific apps in Android.

Mine has just been shipped from Play Store after ordering this morning. I got an email update saying despatched so should be here soon. Can't use it till Friday anyways so no rush.

If I have sky go on my phone, would I be able to stream this through the chromecast into my TV?

Tough call between this or just buying a slimport adaptor.... Or buying a new LG TV with miracast

Sky Go won't work on any screens apart from the device itself (unless it's changed recently).

Miracast I find to be very hit and miss, I have a Samsung Bluray that supports it and it doesn't connect very often and when it does it drops out a lot. Maybe LG have a better implementation though.
